Clement Semmler
Clement Semmler OBE, AM (23 December 1914 – 10 August 2000), often referred to as Clem Semmler, was an Australian author, literary critic, broadcaster and radio and television executive. Early life and education Semmler was born Clement William Semmler on 23 December 1914 in Eastern Well, South Australia. His parents were Germans of the Lutheran faith. Christoph Semmler (born 3 March 1980) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He works as goalkeeper coach of Fortuna Düsseldorf. Playing career Semmler made his professional league level debut in the 2. Bundesliga for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on 17 August 2008 when he started a game against TuS Koblenz. Coaching career From the summer 2013 until the summer 2018, Semmler worked as a goalkeeper coach for Borussia Mönchengladbach II and the club's youth teams. In May 2015, Semmler held a training camp for goalkeepers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. On 26 June 2018, Semmler was appointed goalkeeper coach of Belgian club K.A.S. Eupen. Friedrich Wilhelm Semmler
Friedrich Wilhelm Semmler (11 May 1860, Hochzeit, Province of Brandenburg – 15 March 1931) was a German chemist. Life Semmler studied chemistry at the University of Straßburg and at the University of Breslau. He received is PhD in Breslau in 1887 and his habilitation at the University of Greifswald in 1890. From 1896 till 1907 Semmler was professor at the University of Greifswald. After a two-year time working with Hermann Emil Fischer in Berlin Semmler accepted a position at the University of Breslau. After World War I Semmler increased his involvement into politics and he was elected in January 1919 for the German National People's Party as member of the Weimar National Assembly. Subsequently, he was also elected for the German Parliament for the period between 1920 and 1924. From 1925 until his death in 1931 he was member of the Preußischer Landtag. Beckmann Rearrangement
The Beckmann rearrangement, named after the German chemist Ernst Otto Beckmann (1853–1923), is a rearrangement of an oxime functional group to substituted amides. The rearrangement has also been successfully performed on haloimines and nitrones. Cyclic oximes and haloimines yield lactams. The Beckmann rearrangement is often catalyzed by acid; however, other reagents have been known to promote the rearrangement. These include tosyl chloride, thionyl chloride, phosphorus pentachloride, phosphorus pentoxide, triethylamine, sodium hydroxide, trimethylsilyl iodide among others. The Beckmann fragmentation is another reaction that often competes with the rearrangement, though careful selection of promoting reagent and solvent conditions can favor the formation of one over the other, sometimes giving almost exclusively one product. Rudolf Semler (born 1913) was a journalist who worked as an aide to Joseph Goebbels in the Reich Ministry of Popular Enlightenment and Propaganda.
