Semliya
Semliya is a small village/hamlet east of Namli in Ratlam district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Semliya is among the five most ancient pilgrimage sites for Jains of Malwa. It contains the temple of the 16th Jain tirthankar, Shri Shantinath. Shri Semliyaji Shri Semliyaji is the temple of 16th Jain Tirthankar Shantinath. It is one of five most ancient pilgrimages of Malwa: Semliyaji, Bhopawar, Maksi, Mandav, and Vai Parshwanath. The 41 inch idol of Shantinath was discovered and the temple erected 2300 years ago during the rule of King Samprati. The King ordered his workers to build a tunnel from Ujjain to the temple's Sanctuary for the convenience of those traveling to the temple. The tunnel is no longer in use. Shantinath Idol At Semliya
Shantinatha was the sixteenth Jain tirthankar of the present age (Avasarpini). Shantinatha was born to King Vishvasena and Queen Aiira at Hastinapur in the Ikshvaku dynasty. His birth date is the thirteenth day of the Jyest Krishna month of the Indian calendar. He was also a Chakravartin and a Kamadeva. He ascended to the throne when he was 25 years old. After over 25,000 years at the throne, he became a Jain monk and started his penance. According to Jain beliefs, he became a siddha, a liberated soul which has destroyed all of its karma. Bhopawar Agency was a sub-agency of the Central India Agency in British India with the headquarters at the town of Bhopawar, so the name. Bhopawar Agency was created in 1882 from a number of princely states in the Western Nimar and Southern Malwa regions of Central India belonging to the former Bhil Agency and Bhil Sub-agency with the capitals at Bhopawar and Manpur. Samprati () was the 5th Emperor of the Maurya dynasty. He was the son of 3rd Mauryan Emperor Ashoka's blind son, Kunala, and succeeded his cousin, 4th Mauryan Emperor Dasharatha, as emperor of the Maurya Empire. He built 1,50,000 Jain Derasars (Jainalaya/Jain Mandir/Jain Temple) and made 1,50,00,000 Jain idols.
