Semih Şentürk
Semih Şentürk (born 29 April 1983) is a Turkish former international footballer who played as a striker. He has spent most of his club career at Fenerbahçe where he played between 1999 and 2014, winning 5 Süper Lig and 2 Turkish Cup titles, having risen through the ranks of the Fenerbahçe youth section. Şentürk was a part of Turkey at UEFA Euro 2008, in which Turkey reaches semi-finals. Şentürk was the top-scorer of Süper Lig in 2007–08 season with 17 goals. Club career Şentürk started his career at Özçamdibispor, a local club in İzmir in 1993. He joined Fenerbahçe in 1999. Şentürk cemented his place in the team during 2007–08 season, in which he scored 17 goals and finished the season as Süper Lig's top scorer. 2007–08 Süper Lig
The 2007–08 Süper Lig season, (also known as the Turkcell Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons), was the 50th anniversary of top-flight professional football in Turkey. It was won by Galatasaray, who won their 17th championship. Since Turkey had climbed from 15th to 14th position in the UEFA association coefficient rankings at the end of the 2006–07 season, and UEFA Champions League-bound Zenit Saint Petersburg won the 2007–08 UEFA Cup, the domestic cup winner, Kayserispor, which had qualified for the second qualifying round of the 2008–09 UEFA Cup, was promoted to the first round, filling the unused title holder spot. The knockout phase of UEFA Euro 2008 began with the quarter-finals on 19 June 2008, and was completed on 29 June 2008 with the final at Ernst-Happel-Stadion in Vienna. Group A of UEFA Euro 2008 was played from 7 to 15 June 2008. All six group matches were played at venues in Switzerland, in Basel and Geneva. The group consisted of co-hosts Switzerland, UEFA Euro 2004 hosts and finalists Portugal, as well as the Czech Republic and Turkey.
