Sem de Wit (born 30 March 1995) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for DVS '33. Career Netherlands After playing for various youth teams in the Netherlands, de Wit made his debut for Almere City FC on 14 September 2012 vs. SC Cambuur. Across 2 seasons with Almere City, he made 28 total appearances (27 in the Eerste Divisie). de Wit then joined ADO Den Haag, and was loaned out to FC Dordrecht. However, he did not make any appearances for Dordrecht's first team. de Wit later joined Fortuna Sittard on loan, where he made 14 appearances in the 2014–15 Eerste Divisie. United States After playing four seasons in the Netherlands, de Wit joined USL club Vancouver Whitecaps 2. The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. History The Eerste Divisie consists of 20 clubs, who play each other in a double round-robin league, with each club playing the other club home and away. Each club plays every other club once in the first half of the season before the league takes a winter break around the Christmas and New Year's holiday season. The 2020–21 Regionalliga was the 13th season of the Regionalliga, the ninth under the new format, as the fourth tier of the German football league system. Format A new promotion format was decided on in 2019. From this season onward, the Regionalliga Südwest and West receive a fixed promotion spot. A third promotion spot rotates between the other three divisions, with the remaining two champions participating in play-offs for a fourth spot. The season covers the period from the founding of the club to the start of the 2020 USL Championship season.
