Selina Trieff
Selina Trieff (1934 - January 14, 2015) was an American artist who painted and exhibited for over fifty years. Biography Trieff was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1934. She studied at the Art Students League in New York City (1951–1953) with Morris Kantor, at Brooklyn College (1953–1955) with Ad Reinhardt and Mark Rothko, and with Hans Hofmann in New York and Provincetown (1954–1956). Trieff has taught at schools such as the New York Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute, Kalamazoo Art Institute, and the New York Studio School. She was married to the painter Robert Henry. She divided her time between New York City and Wellfleet, Massachusetts, where she died on January 14, 2015. Artwork Trieff painted archetypal figures in a flattened and heavily delineated manner, which acted at once as self-portraits and allegories for the human condition. Art Students League
The Art Students League of New York is an art school at American Fine Arts Society, 215 West 57th Street in Manhattan, New York City, New York. The League has historically been known for its broad appeal to both amateurs and professional artists. Although artists may study full-time, there have never been any degree programs or grades, and this informal attitude pervades the culture of the school. From the 19th century to the present, the League has counted among its attendees and instructors many historically important artists, and contributed to numerous influential schools and movements in the art world. An art critic is a person who is specialized in analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating art. Riverside Art Museum is an art museum in the historic Mission Inn District of Riverside, California. The museum is a non-profit organization which focuses on addressing social issues and offers art classes as well as other events in order to inspire and build community. The building was originally design by Julia Morgan to serve the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in 1929. YWCAs provided important spaces for women to a part of the urban environment. The Riverside YWCA was purchased by the Riverside Art Association in 1967. ''The Seventh Seal'' ( sv, Det sjunde inseglet) is a 1957 Swedish historical fantasy film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. Set in Sweden during the Black Death, it tells of the journey of a medieval knight (Max von Sydow) and a game of chess he plays with the Death (personification), personification of Death (Bengt Ekerot), who has come to take his life.
