Selene Colburn
Selene Colburn is an American politician currently serving in the Vermont House of Representatives from the Chittenden-6-4 district since 2017 as a member of the Vermont Progressive Party. Prior to her tenure in the State House she served on the city council in Burlington, Vermont. She is the first female chair of the House Progressive Caucus. Colburn was born in Burlington, and educated at Burlington High School, Bennington College, and Simmons University. She became active in politics in her youth when she joined anti-war demonstrations. Colburn was first elected to office with her election to the Burlington city council in the 2014 election and she won reelection in the 2015 and 2017 elections. The Vermont Progressive Party, formerly the Progressive Coalition, is a progressive political party in the United States founded in 1999 and active only in the state of Vermont. Phil Scott
Philip Brian Scott (born August 4, 1958) is an American politician, businessman and stock car racer who has served as the 82nd governor of Vermont since 2017. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected governor in the 2016 general election with 53% of the vote. He was reelected in 2018 with 55.2% and in 2020 with 68.5% of the vote and a margin of 41%, the largest of any Vermont gubernatorial election since 1996, and the largest for a Republican since 1950. Emma Mulvaney-Stanak is an American politician who serves in the Vermont House of Representatives from the Chittenden-17 (formerly called Chittenden-6-2) district as a member of the Vermont Progressive Party. 2021 Burlington Mayoral Election
The 2021 Burlington mayoral election was held on March 2, 2021. Incumbent Democratic Mayor Miro Weinberger defeated Progressive nominee Max Tracy, independent Ali Dieng, and various other minor candidates. Weinberger's victory by 129 votes was the smallest margin of victory in Burlington's mayoral elections since Bernie Sanders' ten vote victory in 1981. Weinberger faced no opposition for the Democratic nomination although C.D. Mattison considered running against him. The 2018 Burlington mayoral election was held on March 6, 2018. Incumbent Democratic Mayor Miro Weinberger defeated independent candidates Carina Driscoll, who had the support of the Vermont Progressive Party, and Infinite Culcleasure. Weinberger won the Democratic nomination without opposition while Driscoll won the endorsement of the Progressives against Culcleasure. Driscoll attempted to unite her campaign with Culcleasure's due to the city's usage of first-past-the-post voting, but Culcleasure declined.
