In British politics, parliamentary select committees can be appointed from the House of Commons, like the Foreign Affairs Select Committee; from the House of Lords, like the Delegated Powers and Regulatory Reform Committee; or as a joint committee of Parliament drawn from both, such as the Joint Committee on Human Rights. Desmond Swayne
Sir Desmond Angus Swayne (born 20 August 1956) is a British Conservative politician serving as the Member of Parliament for the constituency of New Forest West since 1997. Before going into politics, Swayne was a teacher, and then a manager at the Royal Bank of Scotland. He was Parliamentary Private Secretary to David Cameron, both during his time as Leader of the Opposition, 2005–10, and then for two years while Cameron was Prime Minister. In September 2012 he was appointed as Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury and in July 2014 as Minister for International Development. Christopher Charles Stephens (born 20 March 1973) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow South West since the 2015 general election. He has been serving as SNP Spokesperson for Levelling Up since December 2022. Early life and career Stephens was born in Glasgow and was educated at Trinity High School, Renfrew and James Watt College in Greenock, where he studied public administration. Selaine Rachel Saxby (born 25 November 1970) is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Devon since the 2019 general election.
