Selami Şahin
Selami Sahin (born 1948) is a Turkish musician, singer, and songwriter. Life and career Şahin's works have been performed in different languages by artists from European and Middle Eastern countries. He was born to a mother of Egyptian Arab descent settled in Hatay and a Turkish father. He knows not only Turkish but also Arabic as mother tongues. Owing to his mother, he speaks in Arabic of Egyptian accent first. Since Arabic is his mother tongue, he has also participated in joint projects with many famous figures such as Ghada Ragab and Enrico Macias. As a commentator, composer and songwriter, he continued his musical life and later he started art directing and vocal coaching. In 1980 he founded the music production company Lider Müzik. In 2011, when he celebrated his 45th year of career, and his works, which were previously covered by many artists, were put with acoustic and new arrangements and in his album ''Mahzen'' . Yayladağı
Yayladağı (), formerly Ordu, ( ar, اوردو, translit=ʾŪrdū; ) is a town and district of Hatay Province in southern Turkey, on the border between Turkey and Syria, south of the city of Antakya. History The district has a long history dating back to the Hittites. Islam was brought here by the Abbasid Arabs, and from 1075 onwards the Seljuk Turks. During the Crusades, the mountains were part of the principality of Antioch, then they returned to Muslim control, and in 1518 were brought into the Ottoman Empire by Sultan Selim I during his campaign into Egypt. Demographics 19th-century German traveler Martin Hartmann noted that the town was made up of 150 Muslim and 30 Greek households. Hatay
Hatay Province ( tr, Hatay ili, ) is the southernmost province of Turkey. It is situated almost entirely outside Anatolia, along the eastern coast of the Levantine Sea. The province borders Syria to its south and east, the Turkish province of Adana to the northwest, Osmaniye to the north, and Gaziantep to the northeast. It is partially in Çukurova, a large fertile plain along Cilicia. Its administrative capital is Antakya, making it the only Turkish province not named after its administrative capital or any settlement. Arabesque (Turkish Music)
Arabesque ( tr, Arabesk) is a style of music created in Turkey. The genre was particularly popular in Turkey from the 1960s through the 2000s. Its aesthetics have evolved over the decades. Its melodies are influenced by espesically Arab Music, the music of Southeastern Europe and the Middle East, including bağlama music and Ottoman forms of oriental music. Arabesque music are mostly in a minor key, typically in the Phrygian mode, and themes tend to focus on longing, melancholy, strife and love issues. Description and history A very small percentage of Arabesque is exclusively instrumental. For the great majority of it, a singer lies at the center of the music. Male singers dominated the genre in its early years, but female singers probably predominated during its peak years of popularity. Enrico Macias
Gaston Ghrenassia (born 11 December 1938), known by his stage name Enrico Macias, is an Algerian-French singer, songwriter and musician of Algerian Jewish descent. Early years Gaston Ghrenassia was born to a Sephardic Algerian Jewish family in Constantine, Algeria. His father, Sylvain Ghrenassia (1914–2004), was a violinist in an orchestra that played primarily ''malouf'', Andalusian classical music. Gaston played the guitar from childhood, and started playing with the Cheikh Raymond Leyris Orchestra at age 15. He pursued a school teacher career, but continued playing the guitar. In 1961, the Algerian War of Independence was raging, and the situation became untenable for the Jewish and European residents of Constantine. ''The Dealer'' ( ar, الديلر) is an Egyptian film produced in 2008 starring Ahmed El Sakka, Khaled El Nabawy and Mai Selim. The movie was filmed in 2008 and released in 2010. Plot In the first half of the film, Youssef El-Sheikh (Ahmed El Sakka) and Ali El-Halawany (Khaled El Nabawy had a big fight between them since childhood that ends up with prison for Youssef and immigration of Ali to Ukraine.
