''Seize the Day'' is an album by Damien Dempsey released in Ireland in 2003 on Clear Records via Sony. In the UK, it was released via IRL and, in the US, it was released on Attack Records, a subsidiary of Sanctuary Records. In the UK and US, the title track was not hidden. Two tracks – "Factories" and "Seize the Day" – appeared on the soundtrack to the Irish crime film '' Between the Canals'', in which Dempsey made his debut acting performance. Folk Rock
Folk rock is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s. Sony Records
Sony Records was a record label founded by R&B duo Ike & Tina Turner in 1963. It was not affiliated with Sony Group Corporation. Ike Turner produced singles by members of the Kings of Rhythm and the Ikettes on Sony Records. Records on the label were distributed by CIRCA distributing firm. John Reynolds (musician)
John Reynolds is a record producer. He was the first husband of singer Sinéad O'Connor; they have one child, Jake. Reynolds, formerly a drummer for the solo musician, Jah Wobble, met O'Connor and recorded her first album, '' The Lion and the Cobra'' in 1987, and has since collaborated on her '' I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got'' (1990), '' Universal Mother'' (1994) (for which he was nominated as Q Producer of the Year), the ''Gospel Oak EP'' (1997), '' How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?'' ''Shots'' is a 2005 studio album by the Irish singer-songwriter Damien Dempsey which was released in Ireland and the United Kingdom in March 2005. It is the third studio album released by the singer-songwriter. Brian Eno provides backing vocals on the opening track "Sing All Your Cares Away". Damien sings in his native, working class accent in the English language, and to a lesser extent in the Irish language. Early life Dempsey was born and raised in Donaghmede, a Northside suburb of Dublin. His father was a panel beater while his mother had a variety of jobs in the area. Attack Records
Attack Records ran originally from 1969 to 1980 as an imprint of Trojan Records. Notable artists included The Pioneers, Gregory Isaacs, I-Roy, Big Youth and The Upsetters. In 2003 it was revived for British singer Morrissey and the label Sanctuary Records, to persuade him to release his comeback album, You Are the Quarry with Sanctuary, despite the singer feeling that the name Sanctuary was inappropriate. Artists on the Attack roster included Morrissey, Nancy Sinatra, Jobriath and Kristeen Young. Morrissey's 2004 album, ''You Are the Quarry'' has sold in excess of 700,000 copies for the label. The bodhrán (, ; plural ''bodhráin'' or ''bodhráns'') is a frame drum used in Irish music ranging from in diameter, with most drums measuring . The sides of the drum are deep. A goatskin head is tacked to one side (synthetic heads or other animal skins are sometimes used).
