Seiken Sugiura
Seiken Sugiura (杉浦 正健 ''Sugiura Seiken'', born July 26, 1934) is a Japanese politician and lawyer. He was named Minister of Justice on October 31, 2005 and served in the cabinet of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. Being a Buddhism, Buddhist, he imposed a Moratorium (law), moratorium on executions during his time as Minister of Justice (Japan), Minister of Justice. He was defeated in the 2009 election by Yasuhiro Nakane, a member of the Democratic Party of Japan. He has remained engaged in discussions over the death penalty in Japan since leaving politics. Hideo Hiraoka
is a Japanese politician and lawyer who served in the House of Representatives from 2000 to 2012, and as Minister of Justice from 2011 to 2012. He was a member of the Democratic Party of Japan. As a Representative, he represented the 2nd District of Yamaguchi prefecture. Early life A native of Iwakuni, Yamaguchi, Hiraoka passed the bar exam and civil service exam prior to his graduation at the University of Tokyo.
