Brigadier General Segundo Francisco Imbert del Monte ( Moca; 12 May 1837 – Puerto Plata; 16 October 1905) was a Dominican military figure and politician; he was Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Foreign minister, and was candidate for the Presidency of the Dominican Republic. Imbert was born to José María Imbert (Frenchman) and María Francisca del Monte; he married Manuela Mesnier (whose father was French). Moca, Dominican Republic
Moca is the capital of Espaillat province in the Cibao region of the Dominican Republic, and is the tenth-largest city of the country with a population of 173,442 inhabitants. Moca is located 11 miles/18 kilometers east from the country’s second-largest city, Santiago. It is divided into eight municipal districts: San Víctor, Las Lagunas, José Contreras, Juan López, El Higuerito, La Ortega, Monte de la Jagua and Canca La Reina. The city is known as "La Villa Heroica" (Village of Heroes) due to the number of men and women from Moca who have played a major role in the Dominican Republic's history in bringing down two dictators, Ulises Heureaux and Rafael Trujillo, and bringing democracy back to the country. Puerto Plata, officially known as San Felipe de Puerto Plata, is the third-largest city in the Dominican Republic, and capital of the Provinces of the Dominican Republic, province of Puerto Plata (province), Puerto Plata. Divisional General José María Bartolomé Imbert Duplessis (né Joseph Marie Barthélemy Imbert; (24 August 1798 in (now Le Plessis-Grammoire), Maine-et-Loire (Pays de la Loire), France – 14 May 1847 in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) was a French-born Dominican military figure and a mayor of Moca. Major General Antonio Cosme Imbert Barrera (December 3, 1920 – May 31, 2016) was a two-star army general advitam of the Dominican Army and was President of the Dominican Republic from May to August 1965. Imbert, who plotted to assassinate dictator Rafael Trujillo in 1961, was one of the two rival rulers in the Dominican Republic from May 7, 1965, until August 30, 1965, amid the Dominican Civil War. He had succeeded General Pedro B. Benoit van der Horst who ruled for less than a week. Alejandro Woss y Gil (born Alejandro Woss Linares) (May 5, 1856 – January 1, 1932) was a Dominican politician and military figure. He was born in El Seibo on May 5, 1856, to parents, Carlos Woss and María Linares. At a young age he was sent Santiago de los Caballeros to live with his uncle Gen. Evangelista Gil, who adopted him and encouraged to enter military service. Woss y Gil served as Minister of Defense and as vice president during the presidency of Francisco Gregorio Billini, whom he replaced after his resignation from May 16, 1885, until January 6, 1887.
