Seguin Independent School District is a public school district based in Seguin, Texas, United States. In addition to Seguin, the district also serves the communities of McQueeney and Kingsbury. Seguin, Texas
Seguin ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Guadalupe County, Texas, United States; as of the 2020 census, its population was 29,433. Its economy is primarily supported by a regional hospital, as well as the Schertz-Seguin Local Government Corporation water-utility, that supplies the surrounding Greater San Antonio areas from nearby aquifers as far as Gonzales County. McQueeney, Texas
McQueeney is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Guadalupe County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. History German settlers first moved to the area around 1870. When the Galveston, Harrisburg & San Antonio railroad was built through the area in 1876, the stop was named "Hilda". In 1900, a local businessman, C. F. Blumberg, built a general store east of the rail stop. Hoping to get the railroad to move the stop from Hilda to his store, Blumberg called the site "McQueeney", in honor of the local railroad superintendent. The railroad was not persuaded, but the post office that opened in 1900 was called McQueeney. Lake McQueeney was created in 1925 by damming the Guadalupe River. Kingsbury is a city in eastern Guadalupe County, Texas, United States. Kingsbury was a Census-designated place in 2010, when the census reported a population of 782. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The election to incorporate Kingsbury into a Type-C Liberty City passed by a landslide vote of 66–2 on May 9, 2015 and the Order to declare Kingsbury a municipality was signed by County Judge Kyle Kutscher on May 19, 2015. Programming is sourced from Premiere Radio Networks and Westwood One, along with news and weather updates every hour from CBS News Radio and an in-house news staff. KWED also operates an online newspaper, ''Seguin Daily News'', produced by the news staff every business day and available for free on the station's website. KWED uses a non-directional antenna, broadcasting with 1,000 watts during the day, covering all of Guadalupe County and most of the Eastern San Antonio metro area, including the cities of Schertz, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Luling. But because 1580 AM is a Canadian clear-channel frequency, KWED powers down to 253 watts at night to protect CKDO in Oshawa, Ontario.
