Lennart Segerstråle
Lennart Rafael Segerstråle (17 June 1892 – 11 April 1975) was a Swedish-speaking Finnish painter and graphic artist. He was best known for his murals and frescoes. Biography Lennart Rafael Segerstråle was born in Helsinki Rural Municipality, now Vantaa, on the outskirts of Helsinki. He is the second child of Knut Albert Segerstråle, a theologian and teacher at the Borgå High School in Porvoo and Hanna Frosterus-Segerstråle, painter. His younger sister, Solveig von Schoultz (1907–1996) became known as a poet and author of news and children's books. Lennart Segerstråle first attended the Fine Arts at the University of Helsinki, where he studied under the direction of painter and art professor Eero Järnefelt (1863–1937). From 1919 he devoted himself exclusively to art, especially painting. He began to make himself known by the quality of his images and animal motifs. Martin Segerstråle
Martin Segerstråle ( BA MMus PGDip DipRAM LRAM), born August 31, 1984, in Turku, Finland, is a Finnish music director, pianist, conductor and composer. Segerstråle studied Musical Direction and Coaching at the Royal Academy of Music in London and choral conducting and piano at the Sibelius Academy. He also studied musicology at Åbo Akademi University. Segerstråle has conducted several choirs in Finland and was artistic leader of the Studentkören Brahe Djäknar student choir in 2010. Segerstråle was one of the founding members and first artistic leader of the chamber ensemble Ensemble Vida. He was also the bass principal of the internationally acclaimed chamber choir Key Ensemble for many years. Segerstråle received the Finlands Svenska Sång- och Musikförbund conducting prize, Kurt-Erik Långbacka-priset, in October 2014. Ullica Segerstråle
Ullica Christina Olofsdotter Segerstråle (born October 10, 1945) is a Finnish sociologist and historian of science who is professor of sociology at the Illinois Institute of Technology. Segerstråle’s published nonfiction books include ''Defenders of the Truth: The Battle for Science in the Sociobiology Debate and Beyond'' (2000) and ''Nature’s Oracle: The Life and Work of W. D. Hamilton'' (2013), the latter of which is the first biography of evolutionary biologist W.D. Hamilton. Her Ph.D. thesis described the sociobiology controversy of the 1970s, and it subsequently formed the basis of an article published in the first issue of ''Biology & Philosophy'' in 1986. A Guggenheim Fellow in 2002, she was elected a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2012.
