Seerpadar
Seerpadar (also written as ''Cirpatar'' or ''Seerpadam'') is a Tamil caste found in the coastal regions of Eastern Province in Sri Lanka. They are traditionally involved in agriculture. They are chiefly found in the Veeramunai, Mandur, Thuraineelavanai, Kalmunai, Kurumanveli and Periye Kallar regions in the Batticaloa and Ampara District. History Early history The Seerpadar caste derive their name and origin from a Chola queen known as ''Seerpada Devi'', chronicled in inscriptions, copper plates and local poems. According to them, their origin stems from the union of Seerpada Devi and the prince ''Sittathurai'' (also known as ''Balasimhan''), the son of king Ukkirasinghan (legendary founder of Jaffna Kingdom). Ukkirasinghan (, also spelled ''Ugra Singan'') was an early king of the Jaffna Peninsula of the 8th century CE, who established his capital at Kandarodai, formerly known as ''Kadiramalai''. According to Yalpana Vaipava Malai, Ukkirasinghan was from the dynasty of Prince Vijaya. Chola Dynasty

Veeramunai
Veeramunai is a rural village in the Ampara District situated within the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Most of the residents are minority Sri Lankan Tamils and are farmers. According to local chronicles, Veeramunai was founded by early Mukkuva settlers in a medieval feudal division called Nadukadu during the pre colonial period (prior to 1505 CE). Feudal lords known as Vanniar resident in the village controlled large swaths of farm land around the village and the region. These farm holdings led to considerable conflicts with residents of a demographically larger nearby town of Sammanthurai.
