Evelyn Selbie
Evelyn Selbie (July 6, 1871 – December 7, 1950) was an American stage actress and performer in both silent and sound films. Biography Born in Louisville, Kentucky, as a young woman Selbie was a sidesaddle rider. She had a career which lasted twenty-five years on the stage. She began in Proctor's stock companies in New York after leaving her home. She acted in plays like ''Human Hearts'' and '' The Cat and the Canary''. In the former production she starred for two seasons. Selbie also acted in the stock theater company that operated at the Grand Theater in Reno, Nevada. Then she ventured west where she tenured 18 months at the old Central Theatre in San Francisco, California. This was followed by a season in stock in San Diego, California and then a long one in Alaska with T.D. Frawley. During the Alaska tour Evelyn alternated leads with Virginia Thornton. George Hernandez
George Hernandez I (June 6, 1863 – December 31, 1922) was an American silent film actor. Hernandez was born , in Placerville, California. From late 1897 through May 1899, Hernandez was a traveling Shakespearean actor with the Janet Waldorf Company, appearing in '' As You Like It'' and '' Romeo and Juliet''. Hernandez was a member of the William Nicholas Selig stock company, which pioneered filmmaking in Southern California. Later, he supported actress Myrtle Gonzalez in a series of popular outdoor adventures. Hernandez married Anna Dodge. He died in Los Angelese in 1922 due to complications after surgery. Ollie L. Sellers (born Oliver Sellers in 1885) was an American film director. Before becoming a director he was a production manager at Triangle Film Corporation. He worked with Gloria Swanson. He wrote the screenplay adapted from a novel and directed the 1920 film ''The Gift Supreme''. Pro-union films Sellers directed the pro-union film ''The New Disciple'' in 1921 produced by labor organization the Federal Film Corporation in Seattle. It was the most widely viewed labor film of the period, with an audience of more than one million people the year of its release. The film featured Alfred Allen, Norris Johnson, and Pell Trenton. The silent film included titles from Woodrow Wilson's 1913 '' New Freedom'' and told the story of a war veteran and a corrupt capitalist war profiteer. It was an anti-open shop film and an indictment of the American plan. Promotions for the film called for union members to "wait" on their film exchanges to show the film.
