Sedjil (air-to-air Missile)
Sedjil ( fa, سجیل) is an Iran, Iranian semi-active radar homing air-to-air missile. It is made by the Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force and is actually a modified version of the Surface-to-air missile, surface-to-air MIM-23 Hawk, MIM-23 HAWK. The Sedjil weighs approximately 500 kg, its length is 5 meters and its diameter is about 40 cm. The effective range of the missile is approximately 90 km. Its speed is estimated to be about 4-5 Mach number, mach. After six years of combat in the Iran-Iraq War, the prolonged conflict led to a shortage of weapons for Iranian forces, and they felt the need to procure additional weapons systems. MIM-23 Hawk
The Raytheon MIM-23 HAWK ("Homing all the way killer") is an American medium-range surface-to-air missile. It was designed to be a much more mobile counterpart to the MIM-14 Nike Hercules, trading off range and altitude capability for a much smaller size and weight. Its low-level performance was greatly improved over Nike through the adoption of new radars and a continuous wave semi-active radar homing guidance system. It entered service with the US Army in 1959. In 1971 it underwent a major improvement program as the Improved Hawk, or I-Hawk, which made several improvements to the missile and replaced all of the radar systems with new models. Sejjil
Sejil, or Sejjil, ( fa, سجیل, a Quranic word meaning "baked clay", see Surat al-Fil) is a family of Iranian solid-fueled medium range ballistic missiles. The Sejil are replacements for the Shahab liquid-fueled ballistic missiles. According to US Pentagon sources, the missile profile of the Sejil closely matches those of the Ashura, Ghadr-110 and the Samen. AN/APG-63 Radar Family
The AN/APG-63 and AN/APG-70 are a family of all-weather multimode radar systems designed by Hughes Aircraft (later Raytheon) for the F-15 Eagle air superiority fighter. These X band pulse-Doppler radar systems are designed for both air-air and air-ground missions; they are able to look up at high-flying targets and down at low-flying targets without being confused by ground clutter. The systems can detect and track aircraft and small high-speed targets at distances beyond visual range down to close range, and at altitudes down to treetop level. Fereidoun Ali-Mazandarani
Fereidoun Ali-Mazandarani ( fa, فریدون علی‌مازندرانی) is an Iranian retired fighter pilot and a Grumman F-14 Tomcat flying ace during the Iran–Iraq War. Career Mazandarani claims 16 aerial victories against Iraqi aircraft during the 1980s, including eight and one using AIM-54 and MIM-23 missiles respectively, two with the Vulcan M61A gun, as well as five manoeuvre kills.
