Secretary-General Of The Andean Community
The Secretary-General of the Andean Community is the chief administrative officer of the executive organ of the Andean Community. Since August 1, 1997, it also assumes the attributions of the Junta of the Cartagena Agreement. The secretary-general is headquartered at the organisation's brutalist-style headquarters of the same name in Lima, Peru, formerly known as the Building of the Andean Pact. The current officeholder is Gonzalo Gutiérrez Reinel since 2023. Andean Pact
The Andean Community ( es, Comunidad Andina, CAN) is a free trade area with the objective of creating a customs union comprising the South American countries of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The trade bloc was called the Andean Pact until 1996 and came into existence when the Cartagena Agreement was signed in 1969. Its headquarters are in Lima, Peru. The Andean Community has 113 million inhabitants over an area of 4,700,000 km². Its GDP has gone up to US$745.300 billion in 2005, including Venezuela, which was a member at the time. Its estimated PPP of GDP for 2011 amounts to US$902.86 billion, excluding Venezuela. Membership The original Andean Pact was founded in 1969 by Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. In 1973 the pact gained its sixth member, Venezuela. In 1976 however, its membership was again reduced to five when Chile withdrew. Guillermo Fernández De Soto
Guillermo John Roque Fernández de Soto Valderrama (born 27 September 1953) is a Colombian lawyer and diplomat, who has served as Secretary General of the Andean Community of Nations, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Ambassador of Colombia to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and designated-Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotenciary, Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations in New York. El Espectador
''El Espectador'' (meaning "The Spectator") is a newspaper with national circulation within Colombia, founded by Fidel Cano Gutiérrez on 22 March 1887 in Medellín and published since 1915 in Bogotá. It changed from a daily to a weekly edition in 2001, following a financial crisis, and became a daily again on 11 May 2008, a comeback which had been long rumoured, in tabloid format (28 x 39.5 cm). From 1997 to 2011 its main shareholder was Julio Mario Santo Domingo. It is the oldest newspaper in Colombia. Alfredo Fuentes Hernández
Alfredo Fuentes Hernández is a Colombian diplomat, lawyer and economist. He was a partner at Colombian law firm Palacios Lleras. Since October 2015 he is a partner and CEO at the Colombian Law Firm "Fuentes Hernández Asesores SAS". As the Director General for Legal Affairs, he became the interim Secretary General of the Andean Community of Nations in August 2006, after Allan Wagner Tizón's resignation. He was succeeded by Freddy Ehlers ( Ecuador), in January 2007.
