Sebastien Pillay
Sebastien Pillay (born 26 January 1978) is a Seychelles politician. He has served as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly since 28 October 2020. Biography Sebastien Pillay was born on 26 January 1978. He received a Bachelor of Education (2004) from Edith Cowan University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership & Innovation (2008) from the University of Warwick. Pillay first worked as a mathematics teacher. After receiving promotions within the Department of Education, he then became a Lecturer at the University of Seychelles. Pillay was first elected to the National Assembly in 2011 on the United Seychelles (then called "People's Party") list. He was re-elected as a list candidate in 2016 and 2020. He was sworn in as the Leader of the Opposition for the Assembly term beginning 28 October 2020. The University of Warwick ( ; abbreviated as ''Warw.'' in post-nominal letters) is a public research university on the outskirts of Coventry between the West Midlands (county), West Midlands and Warwickshire, England. 2015 United Kingdom General Election
The 2015 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 7 May 2015 to elect 650 members to the House of Commons. It was the first and only general election held at the end of a Parliament under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011. Local elections took place in most areas on the same day. Polls and commentators had predicted the outcome would be too close to call and would result in a second consecutive hung parliament whose composition would be either similar to or more complicated than the 2010 general election. Opinion polls were eventually proven to have underestimated the Conservative vote as the party, having governed in coalition with the Liberal Democrats since 2010, won 330 seats and 36.9% of the vote share, giving them a small overall majority of 12 seats (including Speaker John Bercow—ten seats without him) and their first outright win since 1992. 2020 Seychellois General Election
General elections were held in Seychelles on 22–24 October 2020 to elect the President and members of the National Assembly. The National Assembly elections had been due in 2021, but in July 2020 were brought forward by President Danny Faure in order to hold them together with the presidential elections, a proposal supported by opposition parties. The presidential elections were won by Wavel Ramkalawan of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS), with the LDS also increasing its majority in the National Assembly, winning 25 of the 35 seats. Parliamentary elections were held in Seychelles from 8 to 10 September 2016. Three parties and three independent candidates ran for the 25 directly-elected seats. Parliamentary elections were held in Seychelles from 29 September to 1 October 2011. The elections were boycotted by all the main opposition parties. As a result, the People's Party won 33 of the 34 seats in the National Assembly. University of Seychelles, informally also called UniSey, is the primary institution of higher education in Seychelles. It was established on 17 September 2009. There are three campuses: the main campus at Anse Royale, the Mont Fleuri campus offering education, communication, and technology programs, and the Ma Joie campus offering business programs. In 2014, the university announced a partnership for collaboration and student exchanges with Gibraltar, which is developing its own first university.
