The Roman Catholic Diocese of Penang is situated in the northern region of Malaysia covering 5 states, namely Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Perak and Kelantan. History The first Catholic priests settled in Malacca in the 1511. College General was established in Ayuthia, Thailand in 1665. It was moved to Cambodia before finally settling in Penang in 1808. A seminary occupied a site in Pulau Tikus before moving to their present site in Tanjung Bungah in 1984. In 1786, Captain Francis Light and his men landed in Penang and decided to build a church there. They constructed a church and it was completed in August 1787. Green Lane, Penang
Green Lane is a major thoroughfare within the suburb of Batu Lanchang near George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Part of Penang Middle Ring Road, Green Lane starts from the intersection with Scotland Road and Air Itam Road, and stretches southwards to the Udini Roundabout within the Gelugor suburb. Once a quiet, leafy road, Green Lane has witnessed rapid urbanisation since the 1950s, turning it into an affluent neighbourhood. Abdul Rahman bin Abbas (born 15 April 1938) is a Malaysian politician who served as the 7th Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Penang from 1 May 2001 to 30 April 2021. He is a former politician from the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). Abdul Rahman was appointed to the governorship by the King in May 2001 and was reappointed six times, in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017.
