''Sebadoh vs Helmet'' is an EP by Sebadoh, released in 1992. Three songs (#2, #5 & #9) are re-recordings of songs previously released on Sebadoh's two first albums (''The Freed Man'' and ''Weed Forestin'''). All songs but one song (#9: "Soulmate") were included on the compilation ''Smash Your Head on the Punk Rock''. The German version of this EP (released in 1992 on CD, LP and MC by City Slang) included the entire '' Rocking the Forest'' EP as bonus tracks. Sebadoh
Sebadoh () is an American indie rock band formed in 1986 in Northampton, Massachusetts, by Eric Gaffney and Lou Barlow, with multi-instrumentalist Jason Loewenstein completing the line-up in 1989. Barlow co-created Sebadoh as an outlet for his songwriting when J. Mascis gradually took over creative control of Dinosaur Jr., in which Barlow plays bass guitar. Along with such bands as Pavement, Beat Happening and Guided by Voices, Sebadoh helped pioneer a lo-fi style of indie rock characterized by low-fidelity recording techniques that employed four-track cassette tape machines. The band's early output, such as ''The Freed Man'' and ''Weed Forestin''' (both released 1990), as well as ''Sebadoh III'' (1991), was typical of this style. The Byrds () were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1964. Jason Loewenstein
Jason Loewenstein (born July 20, 1971) is an American alternative rock singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and a member of the indie-rock bands Sebadoh, The Fiery Furnaces, and Circle of Buzzards. He grew up in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he attended Northampton High School, and now resides in Brooklyn, New York. Sebadoh In 1989, Loewenstein was recruited by Eric Gaffney to play drums and bass for Sebadoh. His first songwriting contributions came on ''Sebadoh III'' and continued on ''Bubble & Scrape'', adding "dark .. rough hewn pop gems" like "Happily Divided" and "Sister". Eric Gaffney (born December 25, 1967, in Cambridge, Massachusetts) is an American songwriter and recording artist, and has been home recording on cassette since 1981. An active participant in the Western Mass hardcore scene, in 1983 he founded, wrote songs for, and drummed with Grey Matter, opening hall shows with Jerry's Kids, F.U.s, The Freeze, Big Boys, Raw Power, Adrenalin O.D., Siege, 7 Seconds, Outpatients, Pajama Slave Dancers, Da Stupids, and others. Gaffney joined No Preservatives in 1984, as lead singer, including a University of Massachusetts "Battle of the Bands." The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. Lou Barlow
Louis Knox Barlow (born July 17, 1966) is an American alternative rock musician and songwriter. A founding member of the groups Dinosaur Jr., Sebadoh and The Folk Implosion, Barlow is credited with helping to pioneer the lo-fi style of rock music in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His first band, which was formed in Amherst, Massachusetts, was Deep Wound. Barlow was born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised in Jackson, Michigan, and Westfield, Massachusetts. Barlow has released four solo albums, the latest of which is the May 28, 2021 release ''Reason to Live.'' Nicholas Rodney Drake (19 June 1948 – 25 November 1974) was an English singer-songwriter known for his acoustic guitar-based songs.
