Searle Freedom Trust
The Searle Freedom Trust is a 501(c)(3) grant-making foundation located in the United States. It was established by business executive Daniel C. Searle in 1998. As of 2017, the trust had an endowment of $141 million. Origins Searle considered himself a free enterprise conservative and desired to support organizations with similar views. The source of the trust's endowment was money inherited from pharmaceutical company G.D. Searle, LLC, whose best-known products included Metamucil, Dramamine, NutraSweet, and Enovid, the first female oral contraceptive. Leadership The president of the Searle Freedom Trust is Kimberly O. Dennis. She was previously executive director of SFT's predecessor, the D & D Foundation. The Wake are a British post-punk, synth-pop and later indie pop band, formed in Glasgow in 1981 by Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (formerly of Altered Images), Steven Allen (drums) and Joe Donnelly (bass), the latter replaced by Bobby Gillespie. Steven's sister Carolyn Allen also joined on keyboards, and remained in the band thereafter. Gillespie left the band in 1983, replaced by Martin Cunning and then by Alexander 'Mac' Macpherson. The Philanthropy Roundtable is a nonprofit organization that advises conservative philanthropists. History The Roundtable was founded in 1987 as a project of the now-defunct Institute For Educational Affairs. It was founded as a conservative alternative to the Council on Foundations, a nonprofit membership association of donors. Membership in the organization was free "to interested grant makers", and 140 foundations, charities and nonprofits joined in the Roundtable's first year. The Political Theory Project (PTP) was an interdisciplinary research center at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The center has since transitioned into the university's Center for Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
