Searchlights (Abandon Album)
''Searchlights'' is the first full-length album by Christian rock band Abandon. The album was released on August 25, 2009 through ForeFront Records. Background Abandon had released two full-length albums as an independent band (''Ambush'' and ''Who You Are''), before being signed to Christian music label, ForeFront Records in 2007. Since being signed to ForeFront Records, Abandon has released two EPs, which feature songs that are on Searchlights. The first single off their first EP, "Providence", reached #7 on R&R's Christian rock charts. The song "Hold On", originally released as a single, was #1 for multiple weeks. Abandon (band)
Abandon is an American Christian rock band from San Antonio, Texas. The group had five members: brothers Josh (lead vocals) and Justin Engler (guitar), cousins Stevan (guitar) and Dave Vela (drums), and Bryan Fowler (bass). Abandon signed with ForeFront Records in late 2007, and released the ''Abandon EP'' in July 2008. Their first single, "Providence", was released to radios in August. It reached No. 7 on R&R (magazine), ''R&R'''s Christian rock charts. The group's name was inspired by the Bible verse: "And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me" (Matthew 10:38). ForeFront Records is a contemporary Christian music and Christian rock record label founded in 1987 by Dan R. Brock, Eddie DeGarmo, Dana Key, and Ron W. Griffin. It was purchased by EMI in 1996 from Dan R. Brock and Eddie DeGarmo, and is a division of Universal Music Group under Capitol Christian Music Group. Christopher Stevens (musician)
Christopher Stevens (born November 29, 1967), was an American record producer, mix-engineer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Nashville, Tennessee. Early and personal life Stevens was born Christopher Edmund Stevens, on November 29, 1967, in Eugene, Oregon. He graduated from North Eugene High School and studied electronics at Lane Community College. After working as a composer for video games in the 1990s, Stevens eventually relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue songwriting and record production full-time. Credits awards and accomplishments Chris Stevens has produced and mixed contemporary Christian music artists TobyMac, and ''American Idol'' finalists Mandisa and Colton Dixon, among others. ''R&R'' (also known as the "new" ''Radio & Records'') was a weekly music trade publication that followed the radio industry and tracked the monitoring of current songs by format, station and audience cumes. The magazine was a sister publication to ''Billboard'' magazine and was mostly available through subscription to people who work in the radio industry and music chart enthusiasts, as well as various record stores and newsstands. Dove Award
A Dove Award is an accolade by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry. The awards are presented annually. Formerly held in Nashville, Tennessee, the Dove Awards took place in Atlanta, Georgia during 2011 and 2012, but has since moved back to Nashville. The ceremonies feature live musical performances and are broadcast on TBN. The awards were established in 1969, and represent a variety of musical styles, including rock, pop, hip hop, country, and urban. The 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards presentation was held on April 21, 2010 recognizing accomplishments of musicians for the year 2009. The show was held at The Opry Entertainment Complex in Nashville, Tennessee, and was hosted by Bart Millard. Nominations were announced on February 18, 2010 during a press conference at Belmont University's Curb Café in Nashville, Tennessee. The announcement was hosted by a group of artists which included Francesca Battistelli, Jeremy Camp, Jason Crabb, Brandon Heath, Kari Jobe, Michael W. Smith, Ben Tankard and Lisa Kimmey.
