Sean Poppen
Sean Russell Poppen (born March 15, 1994) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the San Diego Padres organization. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks. Career Poppen attended Cape Henry Collegiate in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He attended Harvard University for four years (2013 through 2016), and played college baseball for the Crimson. Minnesota Twins Poppen was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 19th round, with the 573rd overall selection, of the 2016 MLB draft. He spent the 2016 season with the Elizabethton Twins and the Cedar Rapids Kernels. In 2017, he played for Cedar Rapids and the Fort Myers Miracle. Fort Myers Miracle
The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels are a Minor League Baseball team of the Florida State League and the Single-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins. They are located in Fort Myers, Florida, and play their home games at the Lee County Sports Complex at Hammond Stadium, which has a capacity of 7,500 and opened in 1991. The Harvard Crimson baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team of Harvard University, located in Boston, Massachusetts. The program has been a member of the Ivy League since the conference officially began sponsoring baseball at the start of the 1993 season. The team plays at Joseph J. O'Donnell Field, located across the Charles River from Harvard's main campus. Bill Decker has been the program's head coach since the 2013 season. The program has appeared in four College World Series and 14 NCAA Tournaments. 2020 Minnesota Twins Season
The 2020 Minnesota Twins season was the 60th season for the Minnesota Twins franchise in the Minneapolis–St. Paul, Twin Cities of Minnesota, their 11th season at Target Field and the 120th overall in the American League. It was the team's second year under manager Rocco Baldelli. On March 12, 2020, MLB announced that because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the regular season would be delayed by at least two weeks in addition to the remainder of spring training being cancelled. Four days later, it was announced that the start of the season would be pushed back indefinitely due to the recommendation made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC to restrict events of more than 50 people for eight weeks. Alex Kirilloff
Alexander David Kirilloff (born November 9, 1997) is an American professional baseball outfielder and first baseman for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2020. Amateur career Kirilloff played baseball at Plum High School in Plum, Pennsylvania, but did not attend classes there. He is a 2016 graduate of the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, which is an online public charter school based out of Midland, Pennsylvania. He played the outfield, first base, and was a pitcher. In only 24 games with Plum High School, Kirilloff batted .563 with 28 runs batted in (RBIs) and four home runs. As a pitcher, he had an 8–0 win–loss record with a 0.74 earned run average (ERA). Injured List
In Major League Baseball (MLB), the injured list (IL) is a method for teams to remove their injured players from the roster in order to summon healthy players. Before the 2019 season, it was known as the disabled list (DL). General guidelines Players are placed on the 10-day/15-day injured list or the 60-day injured list, usually depending on the severity and/or recovery time of the injury. By rule, position players must spend a minimum of 10 days on the injured list while pitchers must spend a minimum of 15 days on the IL. The 15-day period was the standard for all players prior to 2017 when the period was shortened to 10 days. The minimum period was restored to 15 days for pitchers for the 2020 season, though the full implementation of the rule was pushed back to May 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chattanooga Lookouts are a Minor League Baseball team of the Southern League and the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
