Sean Phillips (born 27 January 1965) is a British comic book artist, best known for his collaborations with Ed Brubaker on comics including ''Sleeper (comics), Sleeper'', ''Incognito (comics), Incognito'', the ''Criminal (comics), Criminal'' series of comics, ''Fatale (Image Comics), Fatale'', ''The Fade Out'', and ''Kill or Be Killed (comics), Kill or Be Killed''. He has also worked on the DC Comics' series ''Wildcats (comics), WildC.A.T.s'' and ''Hellblazer''. Early life Phillips grew up in the U.K. fascinated by American comics, particularly those published by Marvel Comics. ''John Constantine, Hellblazer'' is an American contemporary Horror fiction, horror comic-book series published by DC Comics since January 1988, and subsequently by its Vertigo Comics, Vertigo imprint since March 1993, when the imprint was introduced. Its central character is the streetwise English exorcist and con man John Constantine, who was created by Alan Moore and Stephen R. Bissette, and first appeared as a supporting character in ''Swamp Thing'' (vol. 2) #37 (June 1985), during that creative team's run on that title. ''Hellblazer'' had been published continuously since January 1988, and was Vertigo's longest-running title, the only remaining publication from the imprint's launch. In 2013, the series concluded with issue 300, and was replaced by ''Constantine (comics), Constantine'', which returned the character to the mainstream DC Universe.
