Sean Daniel O'Malley (born October 24, 1994) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the former UFC Bantamweight Champion. As of September 17, 2024, he is #1 in the UFC bantamweight rankings and #13 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings. Mixed martial arts career Early career O'Malley trains in Glendale, Arizona, at The MMA Lab led by head trainer John Crouch, and is coached by his long-time friend, Tim Welch. O'Malley was given the nickname "Sugar" by one of his MMA coaches in Montana early on in his career. Andre Soukhamthath ( lo, ອານເດຣ ສຸຄຳທັດ, born October 23, 1988) is a retired American mixed martial artist who competed in the Bantamweight division. A professional mixed martial artist from 2011 until 2022, he had competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and CES MMA. Background Born and raised in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, into an immigrant family of Laotian descent. Soukhamthath began competing in soccer as a youngster where he was a standout goalie. This is a list of World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) champions at each weight class. In December 2006 World Extreme Cagefighting was bought by Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, UFC, to concentrate on the four smaller weight classes under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.
