Sean Melvin
Sean Melvin (born July 9, 1994) is a Canadian professional Association football, soccer player who plays as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper for Atlético Ottawa. Early life Melvin was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Victoria, British Columbia to parents from Vancouver. At the age of five, he began playing soccer with Gordon Head SA. Melvin played for three seasons with the UNC Wilmington Seahawks from 2013 to 2015. While at UNC Wilmington, Melvin played in 2013–2014 with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 side in the Premier Development League, starting a total of seven games. In 2015, Melvin was loaned to Calgary Foothills FC in the USL PDL, where he became the No. 1 starter until returning to UNC Wilmington for their 2015 season. USL League Two (USL2), formerly the Premier Development League (PDL), is a semi-professional developmental soccer league sponsored by United Soccer Leagues in the United States and Canada, forming part of the United States soccer league system. 2022 Canadian Premier League Season
The 2022 Canadian Premier League season is the fourth season of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Pacific FC are the defending champions, having beaten Forge FC in the 2021 final. The regular season ran from April 7 to October 9, 2022. Each team played four games against each of the seven opponents for a total of 28 matches. Atlético Ottawa won the regular season championship on October 8, securing the club its first trophy. The top four teams from the regular season qualified for the playoffs where they competed for the league title. Forge FC defeated Atlético Ottawa in the 2022 Final to win their third title. Adam Straith
John Adam Straith (born September 11, 1990) is a Canadian professional soccer player. Early life Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Straith attended Oak Bay High School in Victoria but left after grade 11 to attend Burnaby Central Secondary School as part of the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency program in the 2007–08 school year. He has an older brother, George, and a younger brother, Donald. Career Youth Straith played for numerous clubs in Victoria including Bays United, Victoria United, and his Metro Team in the Lower Island Soccer Association, where he was captain. The Canadian Premier League (CPL or CanPL; french: Première ligue canadienne, links=no) is a professional men's Association football, soccer league in Canada. At the top of the Canadian soccer league system, it is the country's primary national soccer league competition. 2020 USL Championship Season
The 2020 USL Championship season was the tenth season of the USL Championship and fourth under Division II sanctioning. This was the second season under the name "USL Championship", having used the name "United Soccer League" through 2018. Real Monarchs were the defending USL Cup champions. The 2020 season saw 35 teams participate in two conferences during the regular season. On November 8, 2019, Ottawa Fury FC announced that it had suspended operations. The 2017 Canadian Championship was a soccer tournament hosted and organized by the Canadian Soccer Association. It was the tenth edition of the annual Canadian Championship. The 2017 edition saw the introduction of a rule that required three players to be named in the starting eleven of each participating team who are eligible (and have declared their intention, if they had otherwise played for another national team) to play for the Canada men's national soccer team. Due to the restructuring of the CONCACAF Champions League, the winner of the 2017 Canadian Championship would have advanced to a playoff against Toronto FC, the winner of the 2016 Canadian Championship, to be played in Toronto on August 9, 2017, for a place in the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League.
