Sean Michael McDermott (born March 21, 1974) is an American football coach who is the head coach for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL). He began his NFL coaching career as an assistant for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2001, serving as defensive coordinator from 2009 to 2010, and was later the defensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers from 2011 to 2016. Following his six seasons with the Panthers, which included a Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl 50, he was hired in 2017 as the Bills' head coach. McDermott's head coaching tenure in Buffalo has seen improved fortunes for the franchise, which had been mostly unsuccessful during the 2000s and 2010s. In his first season, he led the Bills to their first playoff appearance since 1999, ending the longest active postseason drought in the four major North American sports. Sean McDermott (born November 3, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for Openjobmetis Varese of the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA). He played college basketball at Butler. Early life and high school McDermott grew up in Anderson, Indiana and attended Pendleton Heights High School. His mother ran a fitness center called "The Sports Center" where McDermott was often found playing basketball. As a senior, he averaged 16 points and 6.6 rebounds and was named an Indiana All-Star as he led the Arabians to the Hoosier Heritage Conference. McDermott committed to play college basketball at Butler over offers from Illinois State, Indiana State, New Orleans and UNC Greensboro. His uncle is long-time college coach, Linc Darner. Sean McDermott (born 30 May 1993) is a professisonal footballer playing as a goalkeeper, for Molde. Born in Norway, he has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level. He has previously played for Start and Dinamo București, among others. Personal life McDermott was born to a Norwegian mother and a Donegal-born father in Kristiansand where he also grew up. He lived in Donegal for six months when he was 9 and played in goal for his local Gaelic football club. Career Arsenal McDermott joined Arsenal's youth team in July 2009 after a successful ten-day trial with the club as a 15-year-old in May 2008. Sean Hewitt McDermott (born December 5, 1976) is a former American football long snapper and tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Kansas. Early life and college career Born in Lufkin, Texas, McDermott graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas in 1995. At the University of Kansas, he walked on the Kansas Jayhawks football team and played at long snapper from 1995 to 1999, sitting out the 1998 season due to a foot injury. Professional career McDermott was not selected in the 2000 NFL Draft and was not signed by any team afterwards, so he spent the 2000 season completing his college degree and working part-time as a bartender and bouncer.
