Sean Lynch (artist)
Sean Lynch (born 1978) is a contemporary Irish visual artist. He lives and works in Askeaton, County Limerick, Ireland. Early life and education Lynch was born in County Kerry, Ireland in 1978 and studied art at the Städelschule. He has a master's degree in History of Art from the University of Limerick. Work Lynch works with forgotten histories especially those of public monuments. He describes his outlook in an interview: “We live in a time with so much information available to us—the least we can do is try to use it to recontextualize the vicious binary aggression that is linear history.” Career Lynch has exhibited with EVA International (2006), and had solo exhibitions with the Crawford Gallery (2011), Hugh Lane Gallery (2012–15), Modern Art Oxford (2014), representing Ireland at the Venice Biennale in 2015, Royal Hibernian Academy (2016), the Charles H. Askeaton
Askeaton (, Waterfall of Géitine, also historically spelt Askettin), is a town in County Limerick, Ireland. The town on the N69, the road between Limerick and Tralee, is built on the banks of the River Deel some 3 km upstream from the estuary of the River Shannon. Among the historic structures in the town are a castle dating from 1199 and a Franciscan friary dating from 1389. The castle was abandoned to the English in 1580 – its walls blown up by the fleeing defenders – after the fall of Carrigafoyle Castle during the Desmond Rebellions. Eilis O'Connell (born 1953, Derry, Northern Ireland) is an abstract sculptor. She is known for her free-standing works and wall pieces. Early life and education O'Connell was born in Derry and educated at the Crawford School of Art, Cork, Ireland and Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Career O'Connell has been commissioned to make public sculptures throughout the UK and Ireland. She is a founder director of the National Sculpture Factory (Cork); a member of Aosdána and the Royal Hibernian Academy; and a former member of the Arts Council of Ireland. Hossein Valamanesh (2 March 1949 – 15 January 2022) was an Iranian-Australian contemporary artist who lived and worked in Adelaide, South Australia. He worked in mixed media, printmaking, installations, and sculpture. He often collaborated with his wife, Angela Valamanesh. Early life and education Hossein Valamanesh was born in Tehran, Iran on 2 March 1949. He worked with theatre director Bijan Mofid from 1968 to 1971, and graduated from at the Tehran School of Art in Tehran in 1970. He emigrated to Perth, Western Australia, in 1973, and while living there travelled to remote Aboriginal communities in WA, where he felt a connection between their ancient culture and his own Persian culture.
