Sean Lam
Sean Lam is a Singaporean author and artist. He is best known for his two part graphic novel adaption of New York Times bestselling Larry Niven's sci-fi novel ''Ringworld'' and a 32-page Pope Benedict manga comic where 300,000 copies were distributed for World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid. He is also the creator of the graphic novel '' Geungsi''. Biography Sean Lam was born in Singapore. As a young adolescent, he was fascinated with drawing. In the 1980s, he was exposed to the various art from a diverse range of graphic novels ranging from Western comics to Japanese manga and Chinese manhua, which led him to gain a strong interest in this form of art and storytelling. He graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and specialise in traditional and digital art, graphic novel and story writing. A graphic novel is a long-form, fictional work of sequential art. The term ''graphic novel'' is often applied broadly, including fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work, though this practice is highly contested by comic scholars and industry professionals. A nib is the part of a quill, dip pen, fountain pen, ball point or stylus which comes into contact with the writing surface in order to deposit ink. Different types of nibs vary in their purpose, shape and size, as well as the material from which they are made. Singapore Unbound is a New York City-based non-profit literary arts organization dedicated to freedom of expression and equal rights for all in Singapore and abroad. Jiangshi
A jiāngshī, also known as a Chinese hopping vampire, is a type of reanimated corpse in Chinese legends and folklore. The characters for "jiāngshī" are read goeng-si in Cantonese, cương thi in Vietnamese, kyonshī in Japanese, and gangsi in Korean. It is also known as phi dip chin in Thai, hantu pocong in Malay, and vampir cina in Indonesia. It is typically depicted as a stiff corpse dressed in Chinese shroud which is sometimes mistaken as official garments from the Qing Dynasty, and it moves around by hopping with its arms outstretched. It kills living creatures to absorb their '' qi'', or "life force", usually at night, while during the day, it rests in a coffin or hides in dark places such as caves.
