Sean Farrell (American Football)
Sean Ward Farrell (born May 25, 1960) is a former American football guard who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). Farrell attended Westhampton Beach High School in Westhampton Beach, New York, where he was a football and track star. He then played college football for Penn State University, where he was named to a number of All-American teams in 1980 and 1981. Farrell was the first round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1982 NFL Draft; Buccaneers management had actually intended to select defensive end Booker Reese, and Farrell's name was turned in due to a communication error in the draft room. The team then traded the next year's first round pick in order to get Reese as well. Sean Farrell (born November 2, 2001) is an American professional ice hockey left wing for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). Farrell was drafted 124th overall by the Canadiens in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Amateur After two years with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, Farrell began playing in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Chicago Steel. He was originally meant to begin his collegiate career with the Harvard Crimson during the 2020–21 season, but following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ivy League teams opted not to participate in the athletic season. As a result, it was decided that he would return for an additional season in the USHL. The pandemic also resulted in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft not being held in-person as originally planned, with Farrell and his father watching his draft announcement in a pub at the Steel's Fox Valley Ice Arena. Early life and youth career Farrell was born and raised in Watford, Hertfordshire, and grew up supporting his local team, Watford F.C., Watford. He was invited to try out for Luton Town F.C., Luton Town – Watford's Luton Town F.C. and Watford F.C. rivalry, traditional rivals – in 1985, when he was 15 years old. Seán Farrell (born 1954) is an Irish hurler who played as a midfielder for the Cork minor and under-21 hurling teams. Born in Watergrasshill, County Cork, Farrell first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. A provincial medallist in both grades, Farrell never made the step up to the senior grade with Cork.
