Seamus Heaney Collected Poems
''Collected Poems'' is a spoken-word recording of the Nobel Prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney reading his own work. It was released by RTÉ to mark his 70th birthday, which occurred on 13 April 2009. The fifteen-CD boxed set * * * * spans 556 tracks in over twelve hours of oral performance by the poet (some poems span multiple tracks). The entire work was also released on one disc in MP3 format. All of Heaney's poetry collections are performed except his final one, '' Human Chain'', which was published in the following year. ''Seeing Things'' is the ninth poetry collection by Seamus Heaney, who received the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature. It was published in 1991. Heaney draws inspiration from the visions of afterlife in Virgil and Dante Alighieri in order to come to terms with the death of his father, Patrick, in 1986. The title, ''Seeing Things'', refers both to the solid, fluctuating world of objects and to a haunted, hallucinatory realm of the imagination. An audiobook (or a talking book) is a recording of a book or other work being read out loud. A reading of the complete text is described as "unabridged", while readings of shorter versions are abridgements. Spoken audio has been available in schools and public libraries and to a lesser extent in music shops since the 1930s. Many spoken word albums were made prior to the age of cassettes, compact discs, and downloadable audio, often of poetry and plays rather than books. It was not until the 1980s that the medium began to attract book retailers, and then book retailers started displaying audiobooks on bookshelves rather than in separate displays. After The Fire
After the Fire (or ATF) were a British rock band that evolved from playing progressive rock to new wave over ten years, while having one hit in the United States (" Der Kommissar") and another hit in the United Kingdom ("One Rule for You"). History Keyboard player Peter Banks originally formed the band in 1972 in London, England. After the Fire then went through several personnel changes before settling on Banks, guitarist and vocalist Andy Piercy, bassist Nick Battle, and drummer Ivor Twydell. This line-up enjoyed local success in London, and released an album, ''Signs of Change'', in 1978, on their own label. ''District and Circle'' is a poetry collection by Seamus Heaney, who received the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature. It was published in 2006 and won the 2006 T. S. Eliot Prize, the most prestigious poetry award in the UK. The collection also won the ''Irish Times'' "Poetry Now Award".
