Sea Oryx
The Sea Oryx ( zh, t=海劍羚飛彈系統, p=Hǎi jiàn líng fēidàn xìtǒng) is a lightweight, infrared homing short-range air defense system developed for the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy. Based on the TC-1L surface-to-air missile, it is designed to defend against anti-ship missiles, helicopters, and low flying fixed-wing jet airplanes. It is reported to have strong similarities to the American RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile and uses components of the Sky Sword I air-to-air missile. Development A concept model was displayed in 2015 as a TC-1 modified with an imaging infrared seeker, folding control surfaces, free-rolling tailfins, a more-powerful rocket motor, and a trainable launcher with either eight or sixteen all up rounds and a FLIR sensor on its left-hand side. The design was finalized in 2017, which saw the missile's aft section enlarged in diameter to accommodate more rocket fuel and its four rolling tailfins replaced with eight smaller, fixed ones. Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition
The Taipei Aerospace & Defense Technology Exhibition (TADTE; ) is a biennial defense exhibition held in Taiwan. TADTE is organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). It is held biennially. Repeat exhibitors include both local firms such as, Lungteh Shipbuilding, foreign companies such as Lockheed Martin, and military concerns such as National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology and the Republic of China Army arsenals (primarily the 202, 205 and 209). It is generally a three day event. History From 2013-2015 the Exhibition experienced a 27% increase in the number of exhibitors. Close-in Weapon Systems
A close-in weapon system (CIWS ) is a point-defense weapon system for detecting and destroying short-range incoming missiles and enemy aircraft which have penetrated the outer defenses, typically mounted on a naval ship. Nearly all classes of larger modern warships are equipped with some kind of CIWS device. There are two types of CIWS systems. A gun-based CIWS usually consists of a combination of radars, computers, and rapid-firing multiple-barrel rotary cannons placed on a rotating turret. Missile-based CIWSs use either infra-red, passive radar/ ESM, or semi-active radar terminal guidance to guide missiles to the targeted enemy aircraft or other threats. The Antelope air defense system () is a Taiwanese short range ground-to-air anti-aircraft defense system in operation with the Republic of China Army. Description The Antelope system employs a battery of four Sky Sword I (TC-1) missiles mounted atop a wheeled vehicle (such as a truck or humvee). The system can either be employed as a stand-alone point defense system or as part of an integrated area air defense system. Umkhonto Missile
The Umkhonto (Xhosa: Spear) is a family of vertical launch system, surface-to-air missiles developed by Denel Dynamics. Umkhonto is designed to be a modern, short to medium-range missile, with an all-weather launch capability. The HQ-10 () is a short range surface-to-air missile designed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), currently in service as a point defense missile system aboard PLA Navy warships. Development The system was first adopted by the Liaoning aircraft carrier and the Type 056 corvette in 2011. PAVE PAWS (PAVE Phased Array Warning System) is a complex Cold War early warning radar and computer system developed in 1980 to "detect and characterize a sea-launched ballistic missile attack against the United States". With the first solid-state phased array deployed, the system used a pair of Raytheon AN/FPS-115 phased array radar sets at each site to cover a wide azimuth angle of 240 degrees.
