''Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe'' is a British television review comedy programme created and presented by Charlie Brooker and broadcast on BBC Four. Format ''Screenwipe'' is presented by comedian Charlie Brooker, who reviews other British television programmes with a caustic and humorous tone. Charlie Brooker
Charlton Brooker (born 3 March 1971) is an English television presenter, writer, producer and satirist. He is the creator and co-showrunner of the sci-fi drama anthology series ''Black Mirror'', and has written for comedy series such as ''Brass Eye'', ''The 11 O'Clock Show'' and '' Nathan Barley''. Brooker started his career as a cartoonist; he produced adverts for the second-hand video game retailer CeX before becoming a journalist for ''PC Zone.'' He has presented a number of television shows, mostly consisting of satirical and biting criticism of modern society and the media, such as '' Screenwipe'', '' Gameswipe'', '' Newswipe'', '' Weekly Wipe'', and '' 10 O'Clock Live''. ''Newswipe with Charlie Brooker'' is a British news review comedy programme broadcast on BBC Four during 2009 and 2010 which was written and presented by Charlie Brooker. It is similar to Brooker's ''Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, Screenwipe'' series which is also shown on BBC Four. A first series of six episodes ran between 25 March 2009 and 29 April 2009. A second series began on 19 January 2010 and concluded on 23 February 2010. Format The aim of ''Newswipe'' was to expose the inner workings of news media, just as ''Screenwipe'' does to television in general. The series was a comic, thoughtful and acerbic analysis of recent news coverage. ''Newswipe'' also looked at the way the news is presented to the public. ''Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe'' is a special one-off British, video game culture show by Charlie Brooker, broadcast in September 2009 during the BBC's Technology season. Following on from Brooker's '' Screenwipe'' and '' Newswipe'', ''Gameswipe'' featured reviews of video games and consoles as well as an insight into the video game industry. Format The one-off special was very similar to its predecessors in that Brooker, along with a camera and various games consoles, reviewed and previewed video games in the same style as ''Screenwipe''. Brooker claimed that it would attempt to prove that video games can be just as engaging as television and just as dumb. He said to "expect pixels, joypads, some of the world's weirdest games, celebrity cameos and the occasional sound effect". ''Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe'' is a British television review programme created and presented by Charlie Brooker. It is the most recent addition to Brooker's ''Wipe'' series, and the first to be broadcast in HD. The programme is an amalgam of the earlier ''Wipe'' series, with reviews of current television programmes, news events, games, and films. The programme was commissioned by the BBC in November 2012, with six episodes ordered. It began airing on 31 January 2013, and was broadcast on BBC Two. Two more series followed in 2014 and 2015. A special edition of the show entitled ''Election Wipe'' was broadcast on 6 May 2015, the day before the UK general election. In May 2020 a new one-off episode entitled ''Antiviral Wipe'' was broadcast, which was filmed in lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grandaddy
Grandaddy is an American indie rock band from Modesto, California. The group was formed in 1992, and featured Jason Lytle, Aaron Burtch, Jim Fairchild, Kevin Garcia and Tim Dryden, until Garcia's death in 2017 following a stroke. After several self-released records and cassettes, the band signed to Will Records in the US and later the V2 Records subsidiary Big Cat Records in the UK, going on to sign an exclusive deal with V2. The bulk of the band's recorded output was the work of Lytle, who worked primarily in home studios. Grandaddy released four studio albums before splitting in 2006, with band members going on to solo careers and other projects. In an episode of '' The Russell Brand Show'' broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday 18 October 2008, comedian Russell Brand and presenter Jonathan Ross made prank calls to actor Andrew Sachs that created controversy in the United Kingdom. Brand and Ross called Sachs to interview him on air; when he did not answer, they left lewd messages on his answering machine, including comments about Brand's relationship with Sachs' granddaughter Georgina Baillie. After initially receiving little attention, a 26 October article in ''The Mail on Sunday'' led to widespread criticism of Brand, Ross and the editorial decisions of the BBC. ''Britannia High'' is a British musical drama television series co-produced by Granada Television and Globe Productions for the ITV network. The series focused on the lives of a group of teenagers and their mentors at a fictional London theatre school. It aired on ITV and TV3 Ireland, premiering on 26 October 2008.
