''Scratch'' was a magazine about the art of creating hip-hop. It featured articles regarding producers, musicians and DJs that make beats for rap records, and details the secret methods, stories, partnerships, philosophies and equipment behind the music. The magazine's tagline was ''"The Blueprint of Hip-Hop"''. History and profile ''Scratch'' was owned by Harris Publications, the same company that publishes the popular hip-hop magazine '' XXL'', as well as ''King'', ''Rides'' and '' Slam''. ''Scratch'' debuted in January 2004, and was published bi-monthly. Just Blaze
Justin Gregory Smith (born January 8, 1978), known professionally as Just Blaze, is an American hip hop record producer and DJ. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Blaze attended Rutgers University for three years before dropping out to pursue his musical career. His stage name was inspired by the character Blaze Fielding from the ''Streets of Rage'' video game series. Blaze gained recognition as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, pioneering the " chipmunk soul" sampling style that was prominent in the early to mid-2000s hip-hop scene. He appears in the video for the third single from Eminem's 2010 album '' Recovery'' entitled " No Love", which he produced. Blaze is also the CEO of Fort Knocks Entertainment. Elliott Wilson (born January 14, 1971) is an American journalist, television producer, and magazine editor. He is the founder and CEO of ''Rap Radar''. Byron Otto Thomas (born March 20, 1969), better known by his stage name Mannie Fresh, is an American music producer and rapper. He's best known for his productions on Cash Money Records releases, as well being half of the hip hop duo (alongside label co-founder Birdman) the Big Tymers. He produced all or most of the songs on 17 multi-platinum, platinum or gold albums for Cash Money from 1998 to 2004 before leaving the label.
