Scouts (Australia)
Scouts is the section of Scouts Australia for boys and girls aged 11 to 14 (inclusive). The Scout section follows after Cub Scouts (Australia), Cub Scouts and is before Venturer Scouts (Australia), Venturer Scouts. Scouts wear a uniform shirt with navy blue panels, and green shoulders. Their motto is now "Explore the Unknown". Patrol organisation The Scout Unit is usually composed of several adult leaders, and several patrols of approximately six children. The leader of a ''patrol'' is called a ''Patrol Leader'', an older scout in the unit. Second in command of a patrol is an ''Assistant Patrol Leader''. There may also be a Unit Leader, an older, more experienced member who is not tied to a patrol, but oversees the entire unit and supports the Patrol Leaders. Each week the patrols take turns to be in charge of some of the unit's activities, such as selecting some of the games to play, and running activities. Scouts Australia
Scouts Australia is a trading name of The Scout Association of Australia, which is the largest scouting organisation in Australia, with an estimated 55,038 youth participants in 2021, and a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. It was formed in 1958 and incorporated in 1967. It operates personal development programs for children and young adults from 5 to 25 years of age with programs successively opened to girls after 1971. The organisation's current stated purpose is to "contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities". Lieutenant-general (United Kingdom), Lieutenant-General Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, ( ; (Commonly pronounced by others as ) 22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941) was a British Army officer, writer, founder and first Chief Scout (The Scout Association), Chief Scout of the world-wide Scouting, Scout Movement, and founder, with his sister Agnes Baden-Powell, Agnes, of the world-wide Girlguiding, Girl Guide / Girl Scout Movement. Venturer Scouts (Australia)
Venturer Scouts, formerly Senior Scouts, and commonly known simply as Venturers, is the fourth section of Scouts Australia, and was first formed in 1946. Venturers are aged between 14.5 and 18 years of age and are organised into Units, which can be a part of a single Scout Group or a stand-alone group. Both types of Unit take Scouts from any Scout Group. Although not in common usage, the motto of the Venturer Scout section in Australia is "Look Wide". The highest award in Venturers is the Queen's Scout. This award recognises people who can set their own challenging goals and achieve them. This section of Scouts Australia is about Venturers organising and running their own activities with leader support, moving away from a reliance on adult leaders. Joey Scouts is the section of Scouts Australia for boys and girls aged 5 to 7 (inclusive), often known simply as 'Joeys'. The Joey Scout section is the first age section in the Australian Scout Movement and comes before Cub Scouts. Joey Scouts wear a uniform shirt with navy blue panels, and tawny shoulders. Their motto is now "Discover Adventure". Patrol organisation The Joey Scout Unit is usually composed of several adult leaders, and several '' patrols'' of approximately six children. Queen Scout Award
A King's Scout is a Scout who has attained the King's Scout Award. The King's Scout Award is the highest youth award achievable in the Scouting movement in the Commonwealth realms, including the United Kingdom, Canada (Queen's Venturer Award), Australia, and New Zealand (Queen's Scout Kauri Award), where Scouts operate under the patronage of King Charles III. Whether the award recipient is a Queen's or King's Scout depends on who is the current monarch of the Commonwealth realms. The Baden-Powell Award, also known as the B-P Award or Baden-Powell Scout Award (BPSA), is the highest award achievable to Rover Scout, Rover (adult) Scouts. Although it has become a less common award as some Scout Associations no longer offer a Rover program, it is still awarded in several countries, including Australia, Brazil, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, and in Traditional Scouting organizations in the United Kingdom and the United States. A Scout (in some countries a Boy Scout, Girl Scout, or Pathfinder) is a child, usually 10–18 years of age, participating in the worldwide Scouting movement. Because of the large age and development span, many Scouting associations have split this age group into a junior and a senior section. Scouts are organized into troops averaging 20–30 Scouts under the guidance of one or more Scout Leaders or Scoutmasters.
