Scourie F.C.
Scourie Football Club were a senior association football club from the village of Scourie in the Scottish Highlands. They competed in the North Caledonian Football League and played their home games at Achlochan Park in Scourie. History Scourie F.C. were formed in 2020 as a select team to represent the area of North West Sutherland during the winter months, competing in the North Caledonian Football League. Following their successful application to join the North Caledonian FA in August 2020, the club were admitted to the temporary 'Ness Cup' League Division 2 for the 2020–21 season playing under chairman/manager Tony Reynoldson. However, ahead of the 2021–22 season, the club withdrew - and resigned their membership of the North Caledonian Football Association, having lost every game played throughout the duration of their membership. Scourie
Scourie ( gd, Sgobhairigh), historically spelled "Scoury", is a village on the north west coast of Scotland, about halfway between Ullapool and Durness. The name comes from the Gaelic word Sheiling or shed, a stone-built place of shelter used during the summer months. It is in the traditional county of Sutherland, now part of the Highland council area; the 2011 Census classified Scourie as 'Very remote rural' with an adult population of 132. Until the 19th century, Clan Mackay was the predominant family in the area with a junior branch of the family owning Scourie itself; in 1640, it was the birthplace of Hugh Mackay, a Scottish general who settled in the Netherlands and commanded the forces of William III at Killiecrankie in July 1689. The last of the Mackays' Scottish estates including Scourie were sold in 1829, although the name is still common in the area. North West Sutherland
Sutherland ( gd, Cataibh) is a historic county, registration county and lieutenancy area in the Highlands of Scotland. Its county town is Dornoch. Sutherland borders Caithness and Moray Firth to the east, Ross-shire and Cromartyshire (later combined into Ross and Cromarty) to the south and the Atlantic to the north and west. 2020–21 North Caledonian Football League
The 2020–21 North Caledonian Football League (known for sponsorship reasons as the Macleod & MacCallum North Caledonian League) was the 112th season of the North Caledonian Football League. The season began on 17 October 2020, following a delay caused by the suspension of football activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to no league title being awarded for 2019–20, Golspie Sutherland began the season as the defending champions. In January, the league management committee took the decision to pause the league schedule due to new COVID-19 protection levels that had been introduced in the Highland region. A week later, the Scottish FA confirmed that football at all levels below the SPFL Championship had been suspended while restrictions were in place.
