Scott's is a seafood restaurant at 20 Mount Street, Mayfair, London. Originating as "Scott's oyster rooms" in Haymarket in the 1850s or earlier, it would become "Scott's Oyster and Supper Rooms" on Coventry Street in 1891, and moved to its present location in Mount Street in 1967. Scott's was a favourite of Ian Fleming. In 1975 it was attacked twice by the Irish Republican Army (IRA). History Nineteenth century A "Scott's oyster rooms" in or near Haymarket existed from at least 1853. In that year a Paul Shoreditch of Devereaux Court 'sic'' Temple, was brought before a judge for trying to pass a forged £5 note at the establishment. Scott's Food & Pharmacy was a supermarket chain in the Fort Wayne, Indiana market. The company was once a wholly owned subsidiary of SuperValu, but was acquired by The Kroger Co. in 2007. At the time of its purchase by Kroger, the chain had 18 locations. By late 2014, that number had dwindled to one location as a result of stores being closed or rebranded under the Kroger banner. However, the company shut down in 2016, due to the final store rebranding to Kroger. History Donald G. Scott opened his first store in 1954. In 1963, Scott met William Reitz and the two merged their companies in 1979. In 1991, Scott's was acquired by SuperValu, Inc., who later renamed it Scott's Food & Pharmacy. Scott's Porage Oats is a Scottish food company that manufactures breakfast cereal (a brand of porridge) in the United Kingdom. It was established in Glasgow by A&R Scott, two brothers who made a partnership to manufacture oat products. Scott's was purchased by Quaker Oats in 1982. History of the brand Porridge has been consumed in Scotland as a staple food since the Middle Ages, and is primarily consumed in the winter. A&R Scott began producing Scott's Midlothian Oat Flour in 1880, in Glasgow, moving to Edinburgh in 1909, and the distinctive name, Scott's Porage Oats, was adopted in 1914. Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company Limited, often referred to simply as Scotts, was a Scottish shipbuilding company based in Greenock on the River Clyde. In its time in Greenock, Scotts built over 1,250 ships. History John Scott founded the company in 1711. He built herring busses and small craft. Scotts is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Kalamazoo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located on the boundary between Climax Township and Pavilion Township. Demographics History Land at Scotts was first deeded to Dan Wheeler in 1835. Samuel Scott settled here in 1847 and the community became known as Scotts Crossing, later shortened to Scotts. A post office named Scotts opened on February 19, 1872, with Servetus Bathrick as its first postmaster. The community was platted by Bathrick in 1874. Scotts Valley is a small city in Santa Cruz County, California, United States, about thirty miles (48 km) south of downtown San Jose and six miles (10 km) north of the city of Santa Cruz, in the upland slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 12,224. Principal access to the city is supplied by State Route 17 that connects San Jose and Santa Cruz. The city was incorporated in 1966.
