Scottish Police Authority
The Scottish Police Authority (SPA), ( gd, Ùghdarras Poilis na h-Alba), is a public body of the Scottish Government which holds Police Scotland, the national police service, to account. Both bodies were established on 1 April 2013 following an announcement on 8 September 2011 in which the Scottish Government confirmed a single police service would be created to replace the existing eight forces, the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Scottish Police Services Authority. After a further consultation on the detailed operation of the police service, the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Bill was published on 17 January 2012. After scrutiny and debate by the Scottish Parliament, the legislation was approved on 27 June 2012. It received royal assent in August. Police Authority
A police authority in the United Kingdom is a public authority that is responsible for overseeing the operations of a police force. The nature and composition of police authorities has varied over time, and there are now just four dedicated "police authorities" in the United Kingdom, although the term can refer to various similar successor bodies. Until 2012/13, individual police authorities were maintained for each of the 43 territorial police forces in England and Wales, and for the 8 territorial police forces in Scotland. Robert Black (auditor)
Robert William Black (died 15 October 2021) was a public administrator who was the first Auditor General for Scotland, holding the post between 2000 and 2012. He had several Local Authority management roles before being appointed as Auditor General. As Auditor General he coordinated the scrutiny of public finances over several administrations. After retiring from the role of Auditor General he held multiple board positions and chaired several independent commissions that carried out independent reviews on issues such as housing policy and policing. Police Scotland ( gd, Poileas Alba), officially the Police Service of Scotland (), is the national police force of Scotland. Fiona Catherine McQueen is a Scottish nurse, who was Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland from 2015 to 2021. Early life and education McQueen was born in about 1962. Career Her nursing career began in 1982. She was promoted to be an executive director of nursing for Lanarkshire in 1993. Later she moved to lead nursing at the Acute Services Trust in Ayrshire and Arran. Alasdair George Hay, (born 24 December 1961) is a British firefighter. He was the first Chief Fire Officer of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. Early life Hay was born on 24 December 1961 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Career Hay was a firefighter with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service from September 1983 to October 1992. He was a senior instructor at the Scottish Fire Services College from 1992 to 1994. In 1994, he joined Tayside Fire and Rescue Service. By 2009, he had risen to the rank of Deputy Chief Fire Officer.
