Scott Ryan (actor)
Scott Ryan (born 12 May 1973) is an Australian actor and writer who wrote and starred in the FX series ''Mr Inbetween'' and the film '' The Magician'', which he also directed. At the 2018 AACTA Awards, Ryan won the Best New Talent award, and was nominated for the Best Lead Actor in a Television Role. He was again nominated for Best Lead Actor in 2019, which he then won. Also in 2019, he won the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actor. In 2020, he was signed to the talent agency CAA after actress Helen Mirren and her husband, director Taylor Hackford, urged their Hollywood agent to watch the series who then offered to represent him. At the 2021 AACTA Awards, Ryan won Best Lead Actor in a Television Drama as well as Best Screenplay for the third and final season of ''Mr Inbetween''. ''The Magician'' is a 2005 Australian film written and directed by Scott Ryan. The film was originally shot over 10 days with a budget of . Ryan edited a half-hour version of the film for screening at the St. Kilda Film Festival, where it was seen by stuntman and film producer Nash Edgerton (brother of Joel Edgerton), who took the project under his wing. After receiving A$330,000 in government grants, the film was re-released in 2005. The Melbourne Underground Film Festival (MUFF) is an Austalian independent film festival featuring mostly genre, controversial, transgressive and avant garde material. History The Melbourne Underground Film Festival was formed out of disagreements over the content and running of the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). The Inside Film Awards (now known as the IF Awards) is an annual awards ceremony and broadcast platform for the Australian film industry, developed by the creators of Inside Film Magazine, Stephen Jenner and David Barda, and originally produced for television by Australian Producer Andrew Dillon. Taylor Edwin Hackford (born December 31, 1944) is an American film director and former president of the Directors Guild of America. He won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for ''Teenage Father'' (1979). Hackford went on to direct a number of highly regarded feature films, most notably ''An Officer and a Gentleman'' (1982) and ''Ray (film), Ray'' (2004), the latter of which saw him nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Picture. ''Mr Inbetween'' is an Australian black comedy-crime drama television series which premiered on FX on 25 September 2018 in the United States, followed by Fox Showcase in Australia on 1 October 2018.
