Scott Plakon
Scott Plakon (born March 13, 1959) is an American politician who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for the 37th district from 2008 to 2012 and 29th district from 2014 to 2022. Early life and education Plakon was born in Rochester, New York, and attended Arcadia High School in Greece, but moved to the state of Florida to attend Stetson University in 1977, where he graduated with a degree in psychology in 1981. Career After graduation, he started a publishing company that provided universities with telephone directories, eventually founding The Claims Pages, a publication for insurance claims adjusters. The Florida House of Representatives is the lower house of the Florida Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Florida, the Florida Senate being the upper house. Seminole County (, ) is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 470,856. Its county seat and largest city is Sanford. Seminole County is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. History On July 21, 1821, two counties formed Florida: Escambia to the west and St. Johns to the east. In 1824, the area to the south of St. Johns County was designated Mosquito County, with its seat at Enterprise. The county's name was changed to Orange County in 1845 when Florida became a state, and over the next 70 years several other counties were created. Seminole County was one of the last to split. Stetson is a brand of hat manufactured by the John B. Stetson Company. "Stetson" is also used as a generic trademark to refer to any campaign hat, in particular, in Scouting. John B. Stetson gained inspiration for his most famous hats when he headed west from his native New Jersey for health reasons. On his return east in 1865, he founded the John B. Richard Corcoran
Richard Corcoran (born March 16, 1965) is an American politician and former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. A Republican, Corcoran represented the 37th District, which includes central Pasco County, from 2012 to 2018, and previously represented the 45th District from 2010 to 2012. From 2019 to 2022, Corcoran served as the state's education commissioner.
