Scott Newman (politician)
Scott J. Newman (born January 14, 1947) is a Minnesota attorney and Republican member of the Minnesota Senate. He represents Senate District 18, which includes portions of McLeod, Meeker, Sibley and Wright counties just west of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. He is a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and was the Republican nominee for attorney general in the 2014 election. Early life, education, and career Newman graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in Mankato, receiving his B.A. in history and political science. He later earned his J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul. He previously worked as a deputy sheriff in Hennepin County, as a public defender, and as an administrative law judge. Steve Dille
Stephen Everett Dille (March 16, 1945 – March 25, 2020) was a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 18, which includes portions of Carver, McLeod, Meeker, Stearns and Wright counties just west of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Background Dille was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1945. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1963, and later obtained a B.S. from the University of Minnesota and, in 1969, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine. He was a civilian veterinary advisory in Vietnam for three and a half years during the Vietnam War. Dille was an experienced rodeo cowboy, and was state champion calf roper, steer wrestler, and bull rider. The attorney general of Minnesota is a constitutional officer in the executive branch of the U.S. State of Minnesota. Thirty individuals have held the office of Attorney General since statehood. The incumbent is Keith Ellison, a DFLer. There is no limit to the number of terms an attorney general may hold. Douglas G. Wardlow (born July 3, 1978) is an American attorney and politician who served as a Minnesota state representative from District 38B. Wardlow was the unsuccessful Republican nominee in the 2018 Minnesota Attorney General election. Early life and education Wardlow graduated from Eagan High School in Eagan, Minnesota, where he was one of the four valedictorians of his class. He attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., studied Mandarin Chinese at Beijing University in Beijing, China, and graduated '' magna cum laude'' from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Political Theory with a minor in Mandarin Chinese.
