Scott Bacon
Scott Bacon (born 27 August 1977) is a former Australian politician. Bacon represented the electorates of Denison and then Clark (after renaming) in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2010 to 2019 as a member of the Labor Party. Career He was educated at Cosgrove High School, Elizabeth College and the University of Tasmania, where he studied economics. He is the son of former Premier of Tasmania Jim Bacon. Bacon was elected at the 2010 Tasmanian state election, securing 10.3% of first preferences. The Labor ticket for Denison included three sitting Labor MPs (including the Premier, David Bartlett) but only Bartlett and Bacon were elected, with two sitting members Lisa Singh and Graeme Sturges losing their seats. 2014 Tasmanian State Election
The 2014 Tasmanian state election was held on 15 March 2014 to elect all 25 members to the House of Assembly. The 16-year incumbent Labor government, led by the Premier of Tasmania Lara Giddings, sought to win a fifth consecutive term against the Liberal opposition, led by Opposition Leader Will Hodgman. Also contesting the election was the Greens led by Nick McKim. The Palmer United Party made a significant effort in the election. The House of Assembly uses the proportional Hare-Clark system to elect 25 members in five constituencies electing five members each. Elections to the Legislative Council are conducted separately from House of Assembly elections. The election was conducted by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission. Brian Neal Wightman (born 9 January 1976) is an Australian politician who served as Attorney-General of Tasmania from 2010 to 2014. Wightman is a first-generation Tasmanian of Northern Irish descent. His parents William and Mary migrated from Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Tasmania in 1971. He is married to Katie and they have two children, twins William and Beatrix, who were born on Christmas Eve, 2008. Will Hodgman
William Edward Felix Hodgman (born 20 April 1969) is an Australian diplomat and former politician who has been the High Commissioner of Australia to Singapore since February 2021. He was the 45th Premier of Tasmania and a member for the Division of Franklin in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from the 2002 state election until his resignation in January 2020. He became premier following the 2014 state election, having been Leader of the Opposition since 2006. He was re-elected to a second term in government following victory in the 2018 state election. Matthew Guy Groom (born 24 November 1970) is an Australian lawyer and former politician. He was a Liberal Party of Australia (Tasmanian Division), Liberal Party member for Division of Denison (state), Denison in the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2010 to 2018. William Michael Hodgman AM QC (16 November 193819 June 2013) was an Australian politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Liberal Party and served as Minister for the Capital Territory in the Fraser Government from 1980 to 1983.
