Scott Arnold (born 13 September 1985) is an Australian professional golfer. Arnold was a top amateur golfer, winning several events in Australia. He was the number one ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for five weeks in early 2009. Arnold turned professional in 2009. He has played on the European Tour, Challenge Tour, OneAsia Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia. He won his first professional tournament in January 2012 at the Victorian Open. Challenge Tour
The Challenge Tour is the second-tier men's professional golf tour in Europe. It is operated by the PGA European Tour and, as with on the main European Tour and the European Senior Tour, some of the events are played outside Europe. History The tour was introduced in 1986 and was initially called the ''Satellite Tour''. The Order of Merit was introduced in 1989, with the top five players on it winning membership of the European Tour for the following season. The following year the tour was renamed the Challenge Tour. Up to 1993 the Challenge Tour rankings were based on each player's best several results, but since 1994 it has been a straightforward money list, with all results counting. Players who are successful on the Challenge Tour qualify for membership of the European Tour the following year. Twenty players earn direct promotion to the European Tour. Michael Sim
Michael Sim (born 23 October 1984) is an Australian professional golfer. Amateur career Sim was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and moved to Australia when he was 5 years old. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 2002. He was the top ranked amateur in the world in 2005 having won four titles during the year including the Sunnehanna Amateur and the Monroe Invitational. He turned professional at the end of the year. Professional career Sim played on the Nationwide Tour in 2006, and qualified for the PGA Tour by virtue of a 19th-place finish on the end of season money list, aided by a win at PalmettoPride Classic. Australian Men's Interstate Teams Matches
The Australian Men's Interstate Teams Matches were an amateur team golf competition for men between the states and territories of Australia. The event started in 1904 when New South Wales played Victoria. Until World War II the event was played as part of the championship meeting which included the Australian Amateur. It was not until 1947 that all six states, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia, contested the event together. Northern Territory first played in 2015 increasing the number of teams to seven. The final format was a round-robin tournament, each team playing the other six teams, after which the top two teams play a final. Each team consisted of eight players. Seven competed in each round-robin match with all eight playing in the final. Only singles matches were played. Sloan Morpeth Trophy
The Sloan Morpeth Trophy was an amateur team golf tournament, played between Australia and New Zealand. It was contested irregularly from 1947 to 2016. The trophy was presented by Sloan Morpeth in 1956. From 1993 to 2005 the two countries played each other as part of the Four Nations Team Championship, a competition which also involved Canada and Japan, while from 2007 to 2012 it was played as part of the Trans Tasman Cup. In 2016 the trophy was contested using scores from the two qualifying rounds of the Australian Amateur. Format Except for the final event in 2016, the tournament was match-play. The size of the teams and the format varied but consisted of a combination of foursomes and singles matches. The PGA Championship (often referred to as the US PGA Championship or USPGA outside the United States) is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. It is one of the four men's major championships in professional golf. The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States. The Masters was started by amateur champion Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. Daan Huizing
Daan Huizing (born 22 October 1990) is a Dutch professional golfer. Huizing entered the European Tour qualifying school at the end of 2012. Because of his high ranking as an amateur, he was exempt from the first stage of qualifying. He made it through to the third stage where he finished 80th, earning a place in some Challenge Tour events for 2013. Huizing won twice in 2013, at the Northern Ireland Open Challenge and two weeks later at the Kharkov Superior Cup. He was also joint runner-up in the Kärnten Golf Open and finished the year in sixth place in the Challenge Tour standings, and graduated to the European Tour for 2014. Huizing had a disappointing 2014 with best finishes of tied for 12th place. Since 2015 Huizing has mostly played on the Challenge Tour.
