Scotland Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Scotland women's national field hockey team represents Scotland in international women's field hockey competitions, with the exception of the Olympic Games when Scottish players are eligible to play for the Great Britain women's national field hockey team as selected. Scotland recently participated in the inaugural season of the FIH Hockey World League, but were knocked out in round 2, failing to qualify for the 2014 Hockey World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands. they are seventeenth in the FIH outdoor world rankings. Competing as Great Britain Scotland do not compete at the Olympic Games, but Scottish players are eligible to play for Great Britain as selected. The Scottish Hockey Union, commonly referred to simply as Scottish Hockey or the SHU, is the national governing body for the sport of field hockey in Scotland. It is the SHU's responsibility to help provide for the development, promotion and management of hockey in Scotland. It is also the body that acts as "National Association" for Scotland at the EHF and FIH. Emily Maguire (field Hockey)
Emily Maguire (born 17 December 1987 in Glasgow) is a Scottish international field hockey player who plays as a defender. She represented Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She competed for the national team in the women's tournament, winning a bronze medal. With over 150 international caps, she also represented Scotland at the 2010 and 2014 Commonwealth Games Maguire helped Scotland retain its A division status at the EHF Nations Championship in 2013 and in 2015. In June 2015 she was selected in the victorious Great Britain team at the 2015 Hockey World League Semi Finals which secured qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Maguire currently plays club hockey in the Investec Women's Hockey League Conference East for Hampstead & Westminster. She is a product of the Kelburne Hockey Club, Paisley, Scotland. The women's field hockey tournament at the 1992 Summer Olympics was the 4th edition of the field hockey event for women at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held over a twelve-day period beginning on 27 July, and culminating with the medal finals on 7 August. All games were played at the Estadi Olímpic de Terrassa in Terrassa, Spain, located 30 kilometers from Barcelona. Spain won the gold medal for the first time after defeating Germany 2–1 in the final with a golden goal. Great Britain won the bronze medal by defeating South Korea 4–3. Alison Gail Ramsay (born 16 April 1959 in London, Greater London) is a former Scottish field hockey player, who was a member of the Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad that won the bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. 2016 Women's Hockey Champions Trophy
The 2016 Women's Hockey Champions Trophy was the 22nd edition of the Hockey Champions Trophy for women. It was held between 18 and 26 June 2016 in London, United Kingdom. Argentina won the tournament for a record seventh time after defeating the Netherlands 2–1 in the final. Format After three editions with two different formats, it was decided to go back to the same one used until the 2010 edition which consisted of a six-team, round robin tournament. Qualification A change in the qualification process was decided, similar to the one used until 2010. Alongside the host nation, the last Olympic, World Cup and World League champions qualify automatically as well as the winner of the 2014 Champions Challenge I. The remaining spot will be nominated by the FIH Executive Board, making a total of 6 competing teams. Hockey Champions Trophy
The Hockey Champions Trophy (HCT) was an international field hockey tournament held by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). History Founded in 1978 by Pakistan's Air Marshal Nur Khan and the Pakistan Hockey Federation, it featured the world's top-ranked field hockey teams competing in a round robin format. A biennial women's tournament was added in 1987. The Champions Trophy was changed from an annual to a biennial event from 2014 onwards, due to the introduction of the Hockey World League (HWL). The 2018 edition was the last edition of the Champions Trophy and the tournament was replaced by the Men's FIH Pro League and the Women's FIH Pro League in 2019.
