Scorpio (DC Comics)
Scorpio is a fictional DC Comics terrorist organization introduced in 1965's ''Challengers of the Unknown'' issue #47. Fictional team history A mercenary group of terrorists-for-hire. Scorpio is a well-equipped organization always on the look out for advanced technology that can easily be weaponized. Challengers They were first seen in public fighting off both the Sea Devils and the Challengers of the Unknown, in order to gain control over a living weapon of mass destruction known as the Sponge Man. A field leader known as Agent Number Eight was responsible for duping the Sponge Man into attacking both the Sea Devils and the Challengers of the Unknown. Mike Collins (comics)
Mike Collins (b. 1961 in West Bromwich, UK) is an English comic book artist and writer and has been working in comics since the mid-1980s. Biography Born in West Bromwich in 1961, he moved to Wales in 1985 after an abortive stab at a career in the law, in London. Despite his training as a barrister, Mike decided that he enjoyed the fiction-based life of comic book characters over the fiction-based statements of clients. He is married to Karen Collins and father of three daughters, Bethan, Rebecca and Rhiannon, and is currently placed in Cardiff. He is the grandson of Military Medal-winning World War One soldier Thomas Guinane. Challengers Of The Unknown
The Challengers of the Unknown is a fictional group of adventurers appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. The quartet of adventurers explored paranormal occurrences while facing several fantastic menaces. The characters' provenance is uncertain. Various sources credit the group as the sole creation of artist and storyteller Jack Kirby, a co-creation with writer Dave Wood or a co-creation with Kirby's former partner Joe Simon. Following the end of the ''Challengers'' comic, DC has revived the characters in different incarnations over the years. Some have claimed that Kirby reworked the basic concept of the series with Stan Lee in 1961 to create ''The Fantastic Four'', the first creation that marked the rise of Marvel Comics. Arnold Drake
Arnold Drake (March 1, 1924 – March 12, 2007) was an American comic book writer and screenwriter best known for co-creating the DC Comics characters Deadman and the Doom Patrol, and the Marvel Comics characters the Guardians of the Galaxy, among others. Drake was posthumously inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2008. The Sea Devils are a team of characters in comics published by DC Comics. They are a team of conventional (non-superpowered) adventurers, in undersea adventures. They were created by writer Robert Kanigher and artist Russ Heath (through issue #10). Fictional team biography The team was introduced in ''Showcase'' #27 (July–August 1960) - #29 (November–December 1960). They then got their own title which lasted 35 issues (1961–67). The team consisted of leader Dane Dorrance, Biff Bailey, Judy Walton (Dane's girlfriend), and Nicky Walton (Judy's younger brother). Peter Cannon, Thunderbolt is a fictional superhero character originally published by Charlton Comics. Publication history Charlton Comics The character debuted in ''Peter Cannon ... A skyrocket is a type of firework that uses a solid-fuel rocket to rise quickly into the sky; a bottle rocket is a small skyrocket. At the apex of its ascent, it is usual for a variety of effects (stars, bangs, crackles, etc.) to be emitted. Skyrockets use various stabilisation techniques to ensure the flight follows a predictable course, often a long stick attached to the side of the motor, but also including spin-stabilisation or fins. These rockets have been made at least since the early decades of the 20th century, and in many countries, including Japan and China. The older type of bottle rocket was typically a black powder skyrocket with an engine about 2 inches (5 cm) long and up to 0.375-inch (9-mm) diameter, mounted on a thin bamboo splint and often having a small report charge.
