Scorchio (instrumental)
"Scorchio" is an instrumental by Welsh DJ Sasha and English musician Darren Emerson, credited mononymously as Emerson. It was released on 18 September 2000 by Sasha's vanity label at that time, Excession, through Deconstruction Records. The song peaked at number 23 on the UK Singles Chart in 2000, and reached number 1 on the UK Dance Chart. The song also charted in the Netherlands, and has been included on numerous compilations. Background and composition The collaboration had started after Sasha and Emerson met at a show in Uruguay that they had both been performing at, shortly following Emerson's departure from electronic music group Underworld. The song was co-written by Sasha, Emerson and Spooky member Charlie May, the latter performed song's main riff, on a Roland Jupiter-8 synthesiser. Alexander Paul Coe (born 4 September 1969), known professionally as Sasha, is a Welsh DJ and record producer. He is best known for his live events and electronic music as a solo artist, as well as his collaborations with British DJ John Digweed as Sasha & John Digweed. He was voted as World No. 1 DJ in 2000 in a poll conducted by ''DJ Magazine''. He is a four-time International Dance Music Awards winner, four-time DJ Awards winner and Grammy Award nominee. Sasha began his career playing acid house music in the late 1980s. He partnered with John Digweed in 1993, touring internationally and producing a series of mix albums (compilations of other artists' work played in a continuous fashion). The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' EPOS systems. All major record shops, digital retailers and streaming services contribute to the chart, accounting for over 95% of the market. A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming.
