Scope (horse)
Scope (24 March 2018 – 28 June 2022) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. After winning his only start as a two-year-old in 2020 he developed into a top-class stayer in the autumn of the following year, winning the Noel Murless Stakes and the Prix Royal-Oak. Background Scope was a chestnut colt with no white markings bred in Ireland by her owner, Julian Richmond-Watson's Lawn Stud. He was sent into training with Ralph Beckett at Kimpton, Hampshire. He was from the tenth crop of foals sired by the Teofilo the undefeated European Champion Two-Year-Old of 2006. Teofilo's other European offspring have included Cross Counter, Trading Leather, Pleascach, Twilight Payment and Parish Hall: he has also had great success in Australia where his major winners have included Happy Clapper, Humidor and Kermadec. Teofilo (horse)
Teofilo (foaled 2004) is a retired Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and active stallion. In a racing career that lasted only four months in 2006 he became the European Champion Two-Year-Old of 2006, and retired undefeated after five starts. He won two Group One races: the National Stakes in Ireland and the Dewhurst Stakes in England. He was made favourite for both the 2000 Guineas and The Derby but suffered a knee injury in April 2007 which ended his racing career. He is currently standing at stud in County Kildare. Background Teofilo is a 16.2 hand, dark bay horse bred and trained in Ireland by Jim Bolger and owned during his racing career by Jackie Bolger. Happy Clapper (foaled 25 October 2010) is a retired multiple Group 1 winning Australian bred thoroughbred racehorse. He is also remembered for running second on 5 occasions behind champion race mare Winx. Racing career Happy Clapper raced as a 2 year old and 3 year old without success. The horse won his first race as a 4 year old at Sydney’s Canterbury Park Racecourse when ridden by jockey Blake Shinn. As a 5 year old he won his first stakes race when successful in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes. Adayar (foaled 31 March 2018) is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 2021 Epsom Derby. He showed promise as a two-year-old in 2020, winning the second of his two starts by nine Horse length, lengths. In the following year he finished second in both the Sandown Classic Trial and the Lingfield Derby Trial before winning the Derby. On his next start, he became the first Derby winner in 20 years to follow up with a victory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. A horseshoe is a fabricated product designed to protect a horse hoof from wear. Lingfield Derby Trial
The Derby Trial Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Great Britain open to three-year-old colts and geldings. It is run over a distance of 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 133 yards () at Lingfield Park in May. History Established in 1932, the event serves as a trial for the Epsom Derby. The first running was won by the subsequent Derby winner April the Fifth. The left-handed track at Lingfield Park is similar to that at Epsom. It has an undulating, cambered terrain with a sharp downhill turn into the home straight. In total, nine winners of the race have achieved victory in the Derby. Lingfield Park Racecourse (commonly referred to as Lingfield) is a horse racing course at Lingfield in Surrey, United Kingdom. It is owned by the ARC Racing and Leisure Group, formerly Arena Leisure Plc. Lingfield is best known as a winter all-weather flat-racing course; the track is Polytrack, rather than the usual turf found in the UK. There are only five other all-weather courses in the UK, the others being at Southwell, Kempton, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, and Chelmsford City (formerly Great Leighs Racecourse). Odds provide a measure of the likelihood of a particular outcome. They are calculated as the ratio of the number of events that produce that outcome to the number that do not. Odds are commonly used in gambling and statistics. Odds also have a simple relation with probability: the odds of an outcome are the ratio of the probability that the outcome occurs to the probability that the outcome does not occur. Robert Hornby (born 28 May 1995) is a British jockey who competes in flat racing as a freelance, achieving notable victories for trainers Andrew Balding and Ralph Beckett. Background Hornby grew up on a farm in Chelmarsh, Shropshire, and attended Bridgnorth Endowed School, leaving at the age of sixteen to become an apprentice at the Kingsclere yard of Andrew Balding. Career Hornby achieved his first Group race success on 25 August 2018 when he rode the Balding-trained Maid Up to victory in the Group 3 March Stakes at Goodwood. Newbury Racecourse
Newbury Racecourse is a racecourse and events venue in the civil parish of Greenham, adjoining the town of Newbury in Berkshire, England. It has courses for flat races and over jumps. It hosts one of Great Britain's 36 annual Group 1 flat races, the Lockinge Stakes. History The racecourse held its first race meeting on 26/27 September 1905 at its current location, in the Greenham area on the south-east side of Newbury, West Berkshire.
