''Scooby-Doo'' (also known as ''Scooby-Doo: The Movie'') is a 2002 American fantasy adventure-comedy film based on the long-running Hanna-Barbera animated television franchise of the same name. The first installment in the ''Scooby-Doo'' live-action film series, the film was directed by Raja Gosnell from a screenplay by James Gunn, and stars Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Rowan Atkinson. Raja Raymond Gosnell (born December 9, 1958) is an American filmmaker and editor. He is best known for directing comedies including ''Never Been Kissed'', ''Big Momma's House'', and ''Scooby-Doo''. As well as family films including ''Home Alone 3'' and '' Yours, Mine & Ours'' Early life Gosnell is named after his father's friend Raja Mohideen. He was born in Los Angeles, California on December 9, 1958. Career Gosnell's career started in 1980 when he worked with director Robert Altman as an assistant editor on ''Popeye''. His first solo credit as an editor was on the film ''The Silence''. Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster is an enclosed steel wild mouse roller coaster located at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast, Australia. It is based on the 2002 live action film ''Scooby-Doo'', which was filmed at the studio adjacent to the park at the same time the ride was being constructed. In 2018 the ride underwent a significant theming overhaul and reopened in December under the name Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster: Next Generation with a new ride storyline, new theming (still based on the 2002 film) and new special effects.
