Schuylerville, Bronx
Schuylerville (nicknamed "Skyville") is a middle-class neighborhood located in the East Bronx area of New York City. Housing is mostly single-family and two-family houses. It is located next to other middle-to-upper-class residential neighborhoods of Country Club and Pelham Bay. Schuylerville is a small enclave situated between the Bruckner Expressway and the Hutchinson River Parkway, with suburban style. It is a predominantly Italian neighborhood, with small Hispanic and black populations. Saint Raymond's Cemetery is in the southwestern part. Since the rise of the housing market the neighborhood has seen various luxury developments, including condos and newly built two-family houses. Officially, it is considered part of the Throggs Neck section of the East Bronx. However, it is closer to and associated with the Pelham Bay and Country Club sections of the Bronx. Bruckner Expressway
The Bruckner Expressway is a freeway in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. It carries Interstate 278 (I-278) and I-95 (and formerly I-878) from the Triborough Bridge to the south end of the New England Thruway at the Pelham Parkway interchange. The highway follows a mostly northeast–southwest alignment through the southern portion of the borough, loosely paralleling the course of the East River. It connects to several major freeways including the Bronx River Parkway, and at the Bruckner Interchange, it connects to the Cross Bronx Expressway, the Whitestone Expressway, and the Hutchinson River Parkway. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates a number of bus routes in the Bronx, New York (state), New York, United States. Many of them are the direct descendants of streetcar lines (see list of streetcar lines in the Bronx). Simpson Street (IRT White Plains Road Line)
The Simpson Street station is a local station on the IRT White Plains Road Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Simpson Street and Westchester Avenue in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx, it is served by the train at all times, and the train at all times except late nights and rush hours in the peak direction. History Early history The initial segment of the IRT White Plains Road Line opened on November 26, 1904 between 180th Street–Bronx Park and Jackson Avenue. Bay Plaza Shopping Center is a shopping center on the south side of Co-op City, Bronx, New York City. In addition to various department stores and shops, such as Macy's, JCPenney, Staples, and Old Navy, it has a multiplex movie theater, several restaurants, a fitness club, and some office space. Constructed from 1987 to 1988 by Prestige Properties, the shopping center is located between Bartow and Baychester Avenues, just outside Sections 4 and 5 of Co-op City, on an open lot that was the site of the Freedomland U.S.A. amusement park between 1960 and 1964. Co-op City (short for Cooperative City) is a cooperative housing development located in the northeast section of the borough of the Bronx in New York City. It is bounded by Interstate 95 to the southwest, west, and north and the Hutchinson River Parkway to the east and southeast, and is partially in the Baychester and Eastchester neighborhoods. With 43,752 residents as of the 2010 United States Census, it is the largest housing cooperative in the world. It is in New York City Council District 12. Co-op City was formerly marshland before being occupied by an amusement park called Freedomland U.S.A. from 1960 to 1964. Orchard Beach (sometimes called the Bronx Riviera) is the only public beach in the New York City borough of the Bronx. The , beach is part of Pelham Bay Park and is situated on the western end of Long Island Sound.
