Karl Schuke
Karl Ludwig Alexander Schuke (6 November 1906 – 7 May 1987) was a German organ builder. The son of the organ builder Alexander Schuke, he continued, together with his brother Hans-Joachim Schuke, to run their father's company in Potsdam until 1953, when he founded another organ building company, the Karl Schuke Berliner Orgelbauwerkstatt in West Berlin. They have built organs internationally in Korea, Australia and the U.S. Life Born in Potsdam, the son of the organ builder Alexander Schuke, he attended school from 1912 to 1922 and graduated with from the humanistic Viktoria-Gymnasium in Potsdam. He then began an apprenticeship as an organ builder in his father's workshop. From 1924, he received special training in metal pipe making. Hans-Joachim Schuke
Hans-Joachim Schuke (7 January 1908 – 20 July 1979) was a German organ builder. He was the son of the organ builder Alexander Schuke and ran his father's company, the "Alexander Schuke Orgelbauanstalt Potsdam", today the company, weiter. Life Born in Potsdam, Schuke attended the Viktoria-Gymnasium Potsdam, today , until 1923. He left school early to complete a commercial apprenticeship in Görlitz. When he returned to Potsdam after this training, he learned the organ building trade in his father's company "Alexander Schuke Orgelbauanstalt Potsdam". He worked there as an organ builder until 1933. In that year, his father Alexander Schuke died. In the following years, Hans-Joachim and his brother Karl Schuke continued the business together. Matthias Schuke
Matthias Schuke (born 7 July 1955) is a German organ builder. Career Born in Potsdam, Schuke is the son of the organ builder Hans-Joachim Schuke. He attended the "Polytechnische Oberschule 24", now the Eisenhardtschule Potsdam, from 1962 and graduated with a high school diploma. From September 1972 to June 1974, he trained as a cabinetmaker at the Richard Praetsch carpentry workshop in Babelsberg. In 1974, he began training as an organ builder in the "Volkseigener Betrieb" Potsdamer Schuke Orgelbau, went through the wood workshop, tin workshop, restoration and voicing departments and completed his training in 1977. During this time, Matthias Schuke also completed his Abitur at evening school. From 1977 to 1985 he worked mainly in the field and in voicing. Alexander Schuke
Carl Alexander Schuke (14 August 1870 – 16 November 1933) was a German organ builder and from 1894 to 1933 owner and manager of the . The company still exists today. Life Born in , Kingdom of Prussia, Schuke was the son of the pastor Karl Schuke, who officiated in Stepenitz from 1867 to 1886, and Charlotte Margarethe Alexandrine Anna von Wulffen. In 1885, he came to Potsdam and attended the Viktoria-Gymnasium, today . After graduating from high school, he learned the organ building trade from master organ builder Carl Eduard Gesell. After Gesell's death in 1894, Schuke bought the company and thus took over the business.
